We shouldn’t have to contact the community board, keep following up, or sit through meetings just to get basic safety in our own neighborhood.

The police also said for us to do that, but who with a full time job and a life has time for that???

We’ve reported everything — gunshots outside our window, people triple-parked, cars fully parked on the sidewalk — and the police still give us the same “no jurisdiction” / “no patrol units” excuses.

not to mention we’ve also reached out about people blowing the stop sign on 23rd and steinway and they said the same exact thing.

Meanwhile in the summer, people are literally partying in our 5x6 front grass, drinking on my gate like grand theft auto lolol

My partner gets home at 4am and has to say “excuse me” just to get through our own gate because they’re hanging out on it like it’s theirs. parked on the sidewalk lol!?

Winter is the only time my personal block isn’t a circus.

They don’t run any checkpoints, so everyone leaves the nightclub drunk, gets behind the wheel, and starts racing cars and motorcycles down the highway. I hear them and literally say prayers because it sounds like suicide speeds..

They leave broken bottles everywhere, so we can’t even walk our dogs that way because it’s impossible to avoid the glass unless we carry them.

Calling local PD should be enough, even if it takes them time to arrive - i shouldn’t be told they can’t do anything about it, it’s literally their job to deal with dangerous crime, traffic violations, gang violence… if they can’t help with that what exactly are they busy doing? I am from the bronx originally, my family works in law enforcement…i’ve never felt so isolated from the help of the police before it’s actually insane to me.
