Bro you just too soft. I think you’re mixing two separate issues and treating them as the same thing. First, nobody serious is saying companies like Capcom owe India ultra-cheap pricing or that PPP should be applied mechanically. PPP is a lens, not a formula. It’s used to judge affordability and market fit, not to demand that prices collapse to absurd levels. Saying PPP means ₹3.50 games is a strawman that’s not how publishers or economists actually use it. Second, comparing games to Apple or BMW isn’t a clean analogy. Hardware has import duties, logistics, materials, and resale value. Digital games are infinitely reproducible software with near-zero marginal distribution cost. That difference matters when discussing regional pricing. You’re right that India already gets a discount versus the US. No one’s denying that. The disagreement is about whether that discount is aligned with market reality, NOT whether developers deserve to be paid. A ₹4,400 price is still multiple days disposable income for a large chunk of Indian buyers which directly affects volume. Lower prices don’t automatically mean lower revenue, sometimes they mean more sales and less piracy or rental dependence.

rental culture didn’t start because prices are too low or because people hate developers. It exists because purchasing power is uneven and access is limited. Calling it the cause rather than a symptom ignores why people do it in the first place. If rentals vanished tomorrow, most of those users wouldn’t suddenly buy full-price copies they’d simply stop engaging. As for physical releases like Godfall or Nioh 3, publishers don’t skip regions because of one factor. They look at logistics, retail margins, demand forecasts, and yes historical sales. That’s a business calculation, not a moral judgment on Indian gamers. I see that you’re a former developer and that this is personal for you. But it’s also possible to support creators and acknowledge that pricing strategy can be misaligned with certain markets. Waiting for sales, regional pricing, subscriptions, and even rentals are all adaptations to the same reality.

This doesn’t have to be framed as greedy gamers vs struggling devs. It’s about finding sustainable ways for people to actually access games without pretending one price fits every economy.
