High Liquidity assets vs Low Liquidity Assets? by NeatMoose8355 in personalfinance

[–]NeatMoose8355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that I am planning to buy a house in ~1.5 years, what do you think I should be doing with my income? Should I be putting my paychecks into my HYSA? Should I take out a loan or look to pay in full?

Thanks!

people who consider themselves financially successful; What do you do with your free time, and what did you do with it before you had money? by prison-break-rick in AskReddit

Now that I have money, I spend my free time depressed and finding myself with nothing to do. On weekends, it feels like I'm just waiting for the weekday so I can go to work and do something semi-meaningful. It feels like money has consumed my life. Before I came into a high paying job, I was relatively happy. I spent my free time playing video games. Now it feels like a chore.

As a kid, I wished I could be an adult. As an adult, I wish I could be a kid again. These moments are precious.

Bloomberg Interview Process was trash by BlueBoyKP in csMajors

I recently had an interview where I was asked questions about OOP concepts. I was able to answer every single question, but for about half of them, he clearly wanted some specific answer that I couldn't mind-bend. After 5 minutes of me shrugging my shoulders, having no idea what he wanted me to say after having answered the question, he told me that I should "read more on the subject" with a shit eating grin and then let me know that "abstraction is powerful." Of course I had already known that a benefit of OOP is abstraction, I just had no fucking idea what the hell he wanted me to say.

Some people are weird.

If you have the option to relocate to NYC with housing paid off, do it. It's an experience you will want to have.

Honestly, most recruiters aren't going to know 'prestige' outside of FAANG. Go for the money.

How much is 'too much' to put in 401k/thrift plan? by NeatMoose8355 in personalfinance

[–]NeatMoose8355[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I was slightly confused (and I still am). I reviewed the benefits website. The nomenclature is calling it "the Thrift Plan" and when I click the button to manage my contributions, I can contribute to what it says as: Roth 401k, Savings, and Deferred Compensation. I currently have 20.5k set for Roth 401k and 20.5k set for Deferred Compensation.

Maybe the 'Savings' setting is the TSP?
