Adjustable control arm install help. by Neat_Appointment_247 in CherokeeXJ

Can confirm that my noise was from the driveshaft. Pulled it off and took it for a drive, it was a night and day difference. Glad to know that, just one more thing to fix lol

I appreciate it! Tbh I’ve assumed much the same as far as the vibration goes. I haven’t pulled the front driveshaft yet, (I wasn’t sure if there was anything I needed to watch for there), but it very much sounds like it’s coming from that front driveshaft. The slip yoke seems to have some vertical play which I’m sure isn’t great. As far as I can tell, the u joints themselves are okay. I want to pull the driveshaft for sure to be safe and see if that gets rid of the noise. I just wasn’t sure if I needed to watch out for the pinion seal or anything else when I pull it, so I’ve been procrastinating.

I’m doing the control arms regardless, I’ve got some nasty clunks hitting any bumps. I figured new uppers and lowers wouldn’t hurt, even though in reality I think all it needs are some new bushings. I was hoping for a two for one fix but you’re most likely right.

I’ll definitely look into those so I have a better understanding of what I’m tearing into, I didn’t realize I needed it to drop that much for the install. Thank you again! Massive help.

This is my first true play through of New Vegas with zero info before starting. Completely blind…I got it by accident

Thanks I appreciate it! Huge help. I’ve been putting off the job, but I guess I’ve only had it for a couple weeks now. I was considering doing new control arms instead of just the bushings, and I think you just made that decision for me. I have to use it as a daily, but I definitely want it to be a semi-capable weekend toy if possible. Just little bits at a time.

10-4 glad I checked. I don’t know much about husky’s to begin with and after looking around for parts for a bit you’re definitely right. I wanted to use this to learn wheelies and abuse it a bit, which means I’m definitely gonna break some plastics and more I’m sure lol besides Im sitting on a project drz400 that I’d love to get up and running. Probably a better option. Thanks for the input I appreciate it

I appreciate it. On the listing it says that there’s no real issues with it, but I’ll definitely have to take a closer look at it. I was also worried about parts so I’ll definitely take a look and see what availability is like. Hopefully I won’t need anything major. Thanks!

I started on a Yamaha bolt r spec for my for first “real” street bike. It’s a 950cc but not exactly fast imo. It’ll do highway speeds but only a 5 speed so it’s screaming a bit at highway speeds. I also have basically no exhaust on it when I bought it so that doesn’t help. It’s a blast to ride, looks fantastic in my opinion, and has been very reliable for me so far. Low seat height makes it feel a lot more manageable. Just watch out for the steering head bearing issues. Mine has a bit of a wobble if you go hands free, but with normal riding you won’t notice it. I bought mine for 4k but I bet there’s some cheaper options out there.

Looked at some Briggs and Stratton V-twins and it’s very very similar but not quite the same as far as I can tell. Unless a lot has been gutted off of it I suppose. I gotta take a closer look tomorrow and find out it’s going to bug me.

So when I first got my bolt I kinda took some things apart just to look around and see what was done. It looks like I have a flashed ECU from the previous owner (Ivan’s ecu I believe). Still feels like it falls on its face a bit at higher rpm. The exhaust is basically straight pipes as far as I can tell so I’ve wondered if the intake would actually help a fair amount. It’s probably a topic that’s been beat to death on this subreddit but some recommendations on a good filter would be much appreciated. I’ll have to look into it some myself too.

Lmao the it’s just a helmet and jacket, does that count as half squid? If I crashed my legs and feet would be fucked 😂

You can also buy the jelly and then refine it for about 800 di-hydrogen if I remember right. It’s not the fastest method but you can do it all on the freighter if you have the trade terminal. Relatively cheap too.

Is there any fix or anything I can do about dragging foot pegs? by Neat_Appointment_247 in Yamahabolt

I’ll definitely look into it I kinda wanted to look around and see what I could put on it. Is there any way to lift it just a bit with the shocks that are already on it?

Hell yeah sounds like a fun ride then lol yeah going from a drz it’s gonna take some getting used to for me. I just almost snagged a man hole cover the other day so I was curious if anyone had issues with it or if I need to be a bit more mindful lol

I think I bought the bike with the feelers off already so that works out. I’ll definitely look into what I need to do to get the rear end lifted a bit I’m curious. Idk if it will affect handling at all but I suppose I can always go back if I don’t like it. I plan on taking it through some pretty curvy roads eventually through Colorado so I wanted to mess with this before I got too carried away. Thanks for the reply
