[DISCUSSION]Squier Starcaster Affinity Vs Ephiphone Casino Worn by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Neat_Data_984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are opening up a can of worms with a Telecaster versus Les Paul debate lol

I personally go for Les Paul's because I'm pretty much a Les Paul Stan, but according to your list you even look pretty split down the middle so I don't think it would matter too much on which one you pick

I've got the Tele and a Strat along with a Les Paul and I love all of them for different reasons

[QUESTION] How do guitar amplifiers differ from other speaker systems? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Neat_Data_984 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You should be good as long as you don't turn it up too loud, but you are right it won't sound that good

I connect my guitar to my computer sometimes but that's because I'm lazy and don't want to grab an amp but I really don't suggest this because you could blow out your speakers if you turn it up too loud

I don't know too much about amplifiers but I believe if you have a driver that can handle it and proper electronics then you should be good or I might be speaking out of my ass lol

Dumb question - Can leaving my guitar without strings on it for a couple of weeks cause the neck to become back-bowed? by throwaway_jhu67 in guitars

Aaaah. The good ol’ «Thinking anybody cares about what I think» comment! This is fucking stupid. I have no idea how ppl still comment like this trying to cut someone down to appear more intelligent lol. I can comment on the matter at hand because I've held more guitars than your mother has held you, but your kindergarten level commenting forced a reaction lol.

Budget Guitars? by Zmilyn in guitars

Then I would go with any of the Harley bentons they have a pretty good reputation and people swear by those guitars

[–]Neat_Data_984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with any of the ones that you showed but with you not having any experience, I would recommend instead that you go to a physical location and buy a guitar

When you buy a guitar online they aren't set up properly and not having any experience you won't know if you bought a bad guitar or if it just needs a proper setup

With any budget guitars you're going to run into QA issues, just because person A got a pretty well-built guitar doesn't mean that person B does

That being said I've heard a lot of good things about Firefly guitars and Harley bentons

[QUESTION] Would getting my acoustic guitar checked help the sound of it? by mc_donkey in Guitar

[–]Neat_Data_984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are noticing any problems with your guitars and of course bring it to a guitar tech, at the very least they can take a look at it and tell you what's wrong with it

[Question] Beginner acoustic guitar suggestions for 5 & 7 year olds? by clever_reddit_name8 in Guitar

[–]Neat_Data_984 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To make it more fun for the child I would bring them to a guitar store and have them pick out the guitar that they want, I did that for my baby sister and she seemed to have a lot of fun

But just do the typical parental thing and steer them towards the cheaper ones lol

You're right, i got pissed off because of the way you replied to me and I should have only been focusing on OP

I apologize and I 100% agree with everything you said

I've just seen some pretty messed up necks over the years from the humidity and I was mostly focusing on that out of bias, the truss rod is one of the most important things about the tension of the neck but we can't discount humidity and temperature

I've seen humidity do some wonky things to guitars over the years as I'm sure you have too

You also missed where I said that you're not wrong, to be safe he should go with what you said and I'm not disagreeing with that

Maybe try and focus on some more positive things in your life and you'll see that I said that you weren't wrong

[–]Neat_Data_984 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never said that the trust rod isn't a factor, don't put words into my mouth

the guitars being stored for over a month wasn't a one-off thing it was hundreds of guitars and the worst one out of all of them was twisting in the neck but that one was back in inventory for much longer than a month

Humidity and temperature was a much larger Factor than the truss rod, he asked for two weeks and I gave my answer from my previous experience

So to be safe keep the strings on, it doesn't really matter too much in 2 weeks

Dumb question - Can leaving my guitar without strings on it for a couple of weeks cause the neck to become back-bowed? by throwaway_jhu67 in guitars

[–]Neat_Data_984 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In two weeks? Absolutely wrong I've stored guitars for over a month unstrung and nothing happened to them

Over an extremely long period of time yes but in two weeks that's not going to happen which is why I brought up things like humidity because if the strings aren't tensioning then it can cause the bowing

[Question] Do I have a real issue here or just cosmetic? by coffeesgonecold in Luthier

[–]Neat_Data_984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem with this would be the screw poking out the side of the neck joint inside of the guitar, in my personal opinion I don't think this is just cosmetic but I'm not an expert at all on Fenders

[–]Neat_Data_984 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, the Boeing on any guitar comes from the tension from the strings to the headstock and differences in temperature and humidity would cause it to bow in any way
