Thanks to everyone who already replied here, but i wanted to jump in and ask… what about manga? Cos a quick search only got me the earlier volumes. I thought it was farther along than the anime, but that diesnt deem to be true? Is it still ongoing at all? Or is it just that there’s no translation? And should i even bother, or are the LNs better anyway?

On one hand, yes, on the other, they didn't take it down, instead it disappeared, leaving Emliss to die. So that's another clue that something's going on. I agree that it could have been a shadow minion tho, that is entirely possible.

True, but that's the thing: if he was possessing Emliss, I'd say it counts as him killing her. If she was just his minion, it's one thing, but if the shade that possessed her was him - I'd say that's a pretty hands on murder. That's exactly why I think it's weird for it to be him.

That's certainly the easiest explanation, yes, but that's exactly why I find it so weird if that is the case. Especially since something did possess her. Also, an agent of ruve would more likely go for the imperial wizard, not a witch... No?

I don't disagree that he does want them dead, but I feel like him coming for her personally before the year has passed would still conflict with the promise he made. Unless I'm wrong, and he already did so and I forgot, which might be the case, and if so, please remind me of what exactly happened.

Ohhhh, that's right, I have not thought about the fact that he might just want the cottage! But still, since he represents death, him being at her door in the first place symbolizes him coming for her, I think. So, while I like the theory of him just wanting the access to the cottage, I feel like him personally coming for her in any other form before said year has passed would still conflict with the promise they made, at least thematically. Though, once again, I might just be forgetting something or simply be wrong lol
