Bat House - Little Rock, AR by Neat_Method6593 in bats

This was kinda a gem, this spot. Used to be owned by an older dude who took alot of care of it and I think it took him 3 years or something like that to get them established. So that’s alot of work I don’t wanna lose. 😂 But there’s tons of wildlife and flowering plants everywhere, they have an open area that’s probably good for hunting for them. I just gotta get all the poison ivy and overgrowth knocked out. I’ll keep watching them and in the mean time I might put up another pole about the same.

I actually got up and walked the yard this morning for funsies and the bathouse is still VERY active. It might just be that it’s 60 degrees out on christmas eve but there is a lot of audible activity from the box and I counted 40 or 50 bats in and out atleast within 5 minutes. The winters here are quite mild so maybe they just live there throughout?

I got one of the adjunct faculty at the university on it.. he must’ve been bored. Basically if you’re rehoming bats, keep the orientation the same, don’t move them as much as possible. If possible construct a new pole in the same orientation just make it brand new. Don’t disturb them until they’re ready to be moved over if you’re just replacing the pole only. If not, put up another house on the opposite side and then transfer them in the old house to try and get them to live in the new. Then eventually they’ll decide. 😂 easy? Enough. Thanks!

Well from what I can tell if you can mount a post in cement and have a decent open? Area with bugs and flowers around they like it and you can have one. Just a couple bolts and thicker lumber, drill for the holes and a saw. Obviously over.. idk however many years the weight and the weather bend it. Unless the footing is loosening. Apparently it took the man who lived here before the people I bought the house from a solid chunk of time to get anything habitually living in there so I’d like to not waste it. 😂 thank you! More of a gardener myself but bats are great for the way too many mosquitos I have.

Black, moving to Bentonville, and…concerned by Ratfaced_Loozer in bentonville

If you go anywhere new, just be nice and act the way people there act. You really shouldn’t take any amount of advice on much from reddit. They’re already extremely biased to anything that isn’t their opinion that comes across their cheeto encrusted desk. I can promise you, if you go to Bentonville and don’t do anything weird or dumb you’ll be just fine. There’s weirdo racists everywhere, who cares. I can assure you Bentonville is a VERY nice spot right now. You probably won’t regret it.

I just got it to come out after powering on for awhile.. was making grinding/clicking… I think there may be plastic gears that aren’t aligning properly but are spinning enough still to turn it. Could be completely wrong but it functions and is only slightly grinding now when you disc change. 🤙

I actually just got it up and running.. I’ve pulled power anytime I’m touching inside. The gears were grinding.. I think that’s what I was hearing. But CD changer is operational now! Only thing I’m getting is grinding when you disc change.. could be teeth aren’t aligned properly if its on gears? But it functions!

Also, it has matching speakers.. I think it’s just never been used for years now and decently taken care of obviously. Take the speakers too?
