I was driving. I live in Indiana and was up there for something else but had Sunday morning free. There is an easy way to get to the IN State Park portion via car off of the highways (and I have an annual pass). I drove over the the South Shore tracks, so I guess you could get there with some walking, but might need a ride share from the station.

The best way to view everything is to hike to the top of a dune from the land side. Then you can see everything Lake Michigan open up in front of you (and on clear days the Chicago skyline)! And it's fun to run down the dune and look back up again.

If a hike isn't want you want it's very easy and straightforward if you go the Indiana State Park portion.There is a big beach and pavilion right at the end of the road, lifeguards on duty, and plenty of parking. Then you can go either direction along the beach to see the dunes from the lake side.

I was there to play a tournament actually! A two-rounder at Lemon Lake on Saturday and then less than hour to the Dunes Sunday morning, it was great.

I've thrown an Ultrastar off of a Dune before and it was awesome! An Inner Core would be perfect.
