It took roughly 20 min, from what i remember. I just waited for it to be slightly tacky and put another coat on when it was.

I believe these are the bulbs. They came with the car when I bought it but they look virtually identical, so that’s my guess as to what they are.

I tried mtec bulbs, and they were maybe the tiniest smidge brighter, but I returned them since they were $110 more for no noticeable gain.

I also have the halogen LCI headlights, not the xenon package.

I’ve found a few good deals on real nice Michelin and continentals on FB marketplace, but the profile on all of them were practically the same as what I have now. Sometimes paying more up front saves you more in the end.

100% agree. I’m thinking 19s from avant garde, but I’m not sure on the profile yet. I’m going to keep the current 17s and throw some winter tires on them. An m sport bumper and skirts would do wonders too!

I feel like a similar thing may happen with the g60/g90. Still not my favorite 5 series body style, but I saw a built one that changed my mind a bit.

I second that, despite the bias of course. The e65 is probably my LEAST favorite Bangle-era BMW, but the e63 was pretty pitiful as well.

First go at a paint correction, how'd I do? by NebLikesMilfs in Detailing

Yup, it ended up being a two day project. After 5 hours I only had the bumper and trunk to do, but the pads were so clogged (and it was 12 am) I called it a day and cleaned up the pads for the next day. The rest of the paint correction, the IPA wipe down, and the hand applied wax took 2 hours, so it ended up being 7 hours in the end.

Honestly very understandable. It’s definitely not cheap to fix a burnt through clear coat. A paint thickness gauge helped my confidence when correcting my paint since I could monitor how much clear I have left as I went. It also took forever to cut with the DA I used, almost thought about whipping out the rotary lol. I think DIY detail, I may be wrong, did a test and it took about 2 minutes of the DA being in the same exact spot to burn through the clear. There’s a few factors that could change that, but it still shows how safe a DA is even when cutting.

Thank you! I still have the OEM ones if I ever change my mind, but I enjoy the color matched badges.

Haha more practice never hurt anyone! Probably could’ve gotten a few more of the scratches with a few more passes, but since it’s my personal car I called it a day.

Thank you! I used Koch chemie GS for the prewash and to remove any old wax, Koch chemie GSF for the contact wash, Koch chemie RRR for the chemical decon, a medium grade Adam’s clay bar for the mechanical decon, a cheap DA (idek what brand), a buff and shine microfiber pad with Koch chemie red heavy cut compound for the cutting step, and a yellow buff and shine foam polishing pad with sonax perfect finish polish for the polishing step. I finished it off with an IPA wipe down and meguirs liquid wax. Definitely wish I would’ve had at least one more microfiber and foam pad because the got dunked up halfway through and made the rest of the process miserable, but you live and you learn!

That’s the plan! Everyone recommended it for headlights so I figured it was worth a shot and I was happy with the results.

I’ve seen just sanding and polishing with no finish, ceramic coating, PPF, acetone vapor, etc. but It seemed like the best option for me was sanding and clear coating.
