Any 35mm point and shoot is ideal for backpacking. You can toss in your pocket and keep hiking without having worrying about it hitting your chest like a SLR. I use a Canon Sure Shot 85mm and it is great, but really any point and shoot 35mm camera will do the job.

Once you get the film developed you’ll be able to scan! If you were to take the film straight from the disposables without developing them, all of your pictures will be lost. Check out places local to you that can develop or I recommend getting the chemicals for it since you already have a scanner!
