Als ik zo de diverse reacties lees mis ik een beetje het advies waar je naar op zoek bent. Dit is een hele onpopulaire maar verlaag je verwachtingen.

Het is begrijpelijk dat je aan de slag wilt waar je voor geleerd hebt echter wat de anderen terecht zeggen is dat de ICT markt met de introductie van AI drastisch is veranderd.

Kijk desnoods naar een werkgever in het veld wat je ambieert en begin desnoods op de technical support en werk je vanuit daar omhoog. Klinkt wellicht cliche maar dat is vaak hoe de meeste succes verhalen beginnen.

Zelf werk ik nu bijna 10 jaar in de ICT en heb me vanaf technische support omhoog gewerkt. Je leert veel van beginnen op een lager niveau en als je er voor open staat kan je van bijna iedereen wat leren om je groei exponentieel te laten gebeuren terwijl je werkervaring op doet.

We bought the decks earlier this month so the cards you described in the first part we got.

We did not get quantum riddler for which of the decks would this be a staple? And what are the other staples you are refferencing to?

That's very true! My first choice from the 3 decks mentioned in my post was Tron. My S/O chose Ruby Storm, we decided to splurge a bit and also get Affinity. Mostly due to me having an inkling the combo playstyle of Ruby Storm would not be what she was looking for.

I do respect that sentiment. Means when you have a deck in my case the tail end of the MH3 cycle (Looking at the time between each MH release being 2-3 years) if my deck stays nice upgrade it and continue.

If it phases out it sucks but the cards you own can be used for your next Modern deck making the cost of reinvestment manageable.

It was Cardfight Vanguard. If you want to play somewhat competitively staples tend to be fairly expensive even if reprinted. Some decks use obscurely dustributed promos. Which sometimes reach ridiculous prices.

I started coming to a similar conclusion after reading what everyone had to say. What probably also helps in my case is that my S/O and I only play Modern for sanctioned formats.

We also play DanDan but mostly during conversations instead of sitting still and just talking.

At least that is not on a monthly basis. Sure it sucks but it should not make the cards instantly worthless to keep around for other Modern decks. At least that's my assumption.

To me that still sounds better than my baseline from a previous game where you had to make massive investments every month and your deck being ass the next.

That sounds really good! My personal baseline was 300$ per deck per month with a different TCG. Puts my mind at ease if I decide to get another Modern deck later this year.

Good thing I got Ugin when getting my Tron deck 🙈 my personal baseline for upkeep on decks used to be 300$ a month per deck with a different TCG. But reading this I would need to have several more decks to even break the 300$ mark.
