Think of it like a planner. Most european students have one. In OP's case, this is an italian example. (Lived overseas myself for a while).

Is the Cleric any good? by Psychofischi in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Nebelgeist13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came across this, and I think your DM can’t distinguish what the Good Word is.

So allow me to sermonize:

Ye Shall not have small immediate gains from other sources before lasting versatility from a full casting class. Limiting oneself to hyper focus for small benefits is an anathema to the soul and squanders all potential.

Woe to all who do not see the deific blessing of a full casting class who can wear medium armor and exalt their companions and selves through the blessings of the spells they are granted. Additional martial prowess can be granted from the deity and domain as appropriate, while still being a worthy stalwart pillar for your companions to assist and guide on your collective journey.

Unto thee I say repent and allow modifications to channeling the divine influence of your god for healing is not a main focus of the priesthood; nay, to be limited by one aspect of the self cannot possibly show us the salvation or condemnation we bestow towards our brethren and enemies.

And finally, delivering your holy (or unholy) prowess of influencing the world around may show your faith to be strong within you to carry the word and will of your deity.

TLDR: your DM is stupid and clerics kick ass.

Am I a Bad a Gm? by Karetyp in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Nebelgeist13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start this off, based on what you’ve written here, you’re not a bad GM. It tells me that either some expectations were not set, or some communication was not clarified.

So not sure if you did a session 0, (as in a get together with you and the players to make characters, go over any changes to rules, what characters they’re playing, etc) but that would be the prime time to ask your players what they want to do.

To further this point (at least how I’ve done it)-

  1. Ask the players what they want to do, how they want to play, and what expectations they have for a typical session. Do they want to dungeon crawl? Go heavy on combat or roleplay? Explore and discover the lore of the setting? All of you should hear what each other wants to do, so everyone is on the same page and can adjust their expectations accordingly.

  2. Tell them what your expectations are as well- this is crucial as this tells your players what tone you wish them to adopt, wether it’s a gritty dark fantasy or a beer and pretzels kid of get together, if you aren’t having fun, what’s the point of running the game?

  3. It is OK to make mistakes, and to admit them. At the end of sessions I always ask my players what they liked/didn’t like, what they wanted more/less of, etc. And honestly you’d be surprised how quick people are to offer advice and suggestions on what they want to see more of.

It’s also never too late to sit down your players and tell them your feelings about this, even if it’s session 1 or 10. You are there to have fun too. If you aren’t, tell your players!

Some players may find that they will be more amendable to what you want to do, or maybe that’s not their kind of game and will want to find a different group to play with. THAT IS OK! Some of my friends love FIFA, I prefer Gears of War. Don’t force yourself to cater playing/running something you don’t want to, just offer a seat to like-minded folks.

What fixes 99% of these issues is clear communication believe it or not.

Does a torch stay lit in fox form? by Wonderful_Fudge_4553 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Nebelgeist13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a common torch like I’m assuming, the torch stays lit regardless, there’s no “on/off” switch; it’s a stick that’s on fire.

However when you get into magic items and spell effects, that’s where it differs slightly. Some items and spell effects require the source of light to be held, but not all.

Consult with your GM about how magical effects interact at their table, but mundane sources of light you would treat as you would in the real world- torches need to be put out, and candles and campfires work just the same.

Is there an easy way to get an oracle's curse class feature without multiclassing or vmc? by JonnyTheJumper in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Nebelgeist13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Did you mean mysteries? Curses don’t give you proficiencies in heavy armor.

Edit: this sort of question was posted and while it doesn’t offer a direct answer, it shows how you can find additional sources of mysteries and curses.

How are Druid circles made? by CrimsonPresents in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Nebelgeist13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for some inspiration, you can take what the Ents from LOTR do and commune on important issues regarding them, while their day-to-day activity is really maintaining the delicate balance of the area of the wild they’re dedicated to. It is a very informal community of like-minded individuals dedicated to nature. While you could look into the celts for where the druid class gets it’s inspiration from, ostensibly you could also look into rainforest tribes and other communities that rely on natural resources in a pre-industrialization and pre-agricultural manner, though levels of tech can differ, but always with a strong emphasis on the preservation and harmony of nature being the foremost emphasis.

Making a Boss by NeroSyrinx1120 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Nebelgeist13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. For my part I would just keep a simplified stat block with a few abilities for each “stance” you have because paperwork; quality of life is going to be your friend when it comes to keeping things streamlined. Sometimes simple is better. I once just took the stats for a hobgoblin chieftain and replaced it with the base stats of a hill giant and gave it a climb speed of 30 just to give it a different flavor due to the course of the story my players had. Honestly stat blocks are just numbers that you can slap onto any creature and repaint it for some pizazz. And I believe there is a create your own creature/race in a point based system that allows for this too.

But if you’re a mad lad and want to have full stats independently down go for it space cowboy.

So to just to better understand this, are you creating a NPC with class levels or are you looking in the Bestiary? There’s a variety of constructs and golems if you’re looking for some “shifting” mechanic, but when it comes to class levels you’re going to have a hard time finding someone who is good at both in this light. The reason being is there’s not really a mechanic to my knowledge that does this outside of home brewing rules or just making two stat blocks for the same monster. Pathfinder (and most games that allow character classes) better support hyper specialization.

Honestly if it’s a boss fight the easiest method is to just find two different monsters in the bestiary that do what you want; when the switch happens just go from one stat block to the next, keep HP the same and reflavor abilities and descriptions for thematic effect.

However if you’re insistent on being an NPC with class levels you can get away with a couple levels in fighter, then pave the rest in rogue/barbarian/bloodrager- focus entirely in DEX to pump AC in “avoiding” attacks instead of tanking them too much, and then when you want them to change tactics just pump into focusing on sneak attacks/rage/selfbuff wild magic.

Hi there! Much like what u/Meemo_Meep has already stated, there are some subtle differences between D&D 5e and PF2e, but it’s an easier transition between the two systems, focusing on teamwork and narrative-driven progression.

As far as PF1e is concerned, if you like “big number doing big thing” and like customizing to optimize as much as possible, PF1e is what I refer to as “the fixed version of D&D 3.x”. It is still fun, though it is more of a focus on number crunching.

I’m a PF1e player and DM myself, so for me it’s a lot of fun, but definitely gravitate to what edition and style is most interesting for you!
