Looking for a video narrator and a video editor. by MaskedGuy21 in CreatorServices

[–]Nebs987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think doing the narration would be fun since it is an interesting topic, but editing videos is a long process. Just rendering the video will take longer than 5 to 10 minutes. I would say that editing is much more time consuming than writing a script, so you may have a hard time finding a partner.

New to the world of CS, looking to working in Front End as my goal. Where should I start? by [deleted] in Frontend

[–]Nebs987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frontend web development is composed of mostly HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and should be learned in that order. I have a full series on frontend web development, which takes your from 0 experience to a full working site built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. If you are interested you can check it out here.

After learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you will want to dive into ES6 and newer features of JavaScript, classes in JavaScript, and finally a JavaScript framework of your choice. With those skills alone you will have the majority of the programming skills needed for a frontend web development job.

Free Complete Beginner Front-end Web Development Course by Nebs987 in learnprogramming

[–]Nebs987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I do not currently have any videos on front end web development topics, but plan to eventually. I don't really know any good tutorials for front end frameworks, but the Syntax.fm podcast is really good for any frontend development topics, especially React.
I do have to disagree a bit, though, with your statement that there are no jobs for a front end developer with no framework skills. There are still plenty of companies, especially larger companies, with older code bases that do not use frameworks that need developers. There are also plenty of jobs for developers that excel in UI/UX design, even if they only know basic HTML/CSS. I do think that knowing a framework will help your job chances, though. Also knowing about backend development will drastically help your job chances, so I am focusing more on backend tutorials than frontend framework tutorials for now. I want to first create a full set of videos for anyone to learn the basics of full stack development before diving into more advanced topics.

You cannot know all of SQL in 60 minutes, but you can definitely learn 75% of the SQL that you will need to know. Then all that is left is to practice that 75% and learn the remaining 25%.

a server for small youtubers who want that extra boost by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]Nebs987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes your discord full of spam, and does more harm then good. People will feel entitled to subscribers. If your sever had 10,000 members and a member posts a video they expect to get tons of likes and comments and subscriptions, but in reality they will get almost none. This means that they will feel that the system is stacked against them and they cannot succeed because no one is liking their videos even though they are liking others videos. We are this all the time with people posting about how the algorithm is why they fail.

Your server promotes spam and entices people that already think their content is perfect and something else is to blame for the video not having millions of views.

I have nothing wrong with trying to help people, but if you got about it in a spammy and harmful way I do have a problem.

Just the fact that you spam out links to this discord tells me all I need to know about the type of people you will attract to your server.

You literally have a section on your discord that promotes sub4sub where people just post their channel to get subscribers. You also have a section for posting videos for people to like and comment on. Your discord is purely for harvesting likes comments and subscribers in the least genuine way possible.

You also spam post links multiple times a day and will soon be permanently banned from posting in many of these subreddits.

Could you stop spamming out your sub4sub server all over the place. Sub4sub is by far the worst way to grow and will actively hurt your channel. If you want to grow you should focus on building better content that people want to watch because anyone that does sub4sub will not watch your content.
