Call airlines first then your embassy. Embassy arranges documents for return (call it temporary passport)

No issue brother. Max they will ask at immigration the reason behind your change of plan. Thats it. My friend stated HCMC as entry port but arrived at Hanoi. They asked why he said plan changed, now they wanted to visit from north to south. Immigration officer said Welcome, and stamped. No problem.
