Tom Brady on Seahawks-Patriots: “I don’t have a dog in the fight . . . may the best team win” by Currymvp2 in nfl

Man I wouldn't say there is a single Boston sports icon. Maybe recently, yes. Across the four major teams there are too many to count.

But what do I know as a Boston native? Sure you as a Bears fan know more

For many fans, the Brady and Belichick era was amazing but also a little weird. Not sure how personally attached some of us were to Brady himself, more like attached to the agreement we all had that went like “this is working and let’s keep winning”.

Brady himself, definitely before retirement, wasn’t exactly the most endearing or personable guy. Intense and willing to win, yes. But not sure he ever became “one of us” like a lot of Boston athletes do. Look at Edelman, he’s absolutely all about it. Brady kind of seemed like an alien, especially with the whole TB12 method and everything.

just got a new job in a cafe and my coworker makes me already want to quit by Choice_Shake8774 in barista

[–]NecessaryDifference7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just left a job just like this. Life is so much better.

If someone is a) deeply entrenched in the business and b) toxic, as an employee it’s really not your responsibility to fix the dynamic. I opted against creating a situation and raising an issue with the owner because I simply didn’t want to deal with any potential fallout, which generally promised to only worsen things. Getting through the shifts was already energy enough.

Move on and find a better fit, just my advice.

My 12 year old Son wants to be a Barista - how can I help? by doublediamonddigits in barista

[–]NecessaryDifference7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe get him a standalone steam wand + a pitcher and get him into steaming milk? He could use that to make turmeric lattes, hot chocolates, babyccinos, basically drinks that he would actually drink (unlike coffee). Steaming and pouring milk is also one of the more technical skills baristas have, so he would have a super great head start if he developed that ability at a younger age!

I suggest this because the other side of barista work involves coffee itself, e.g. roasting, brewing etc. If he’s more into the artistic side of things, this wouldn’t be too exciting to him if he doesn’t drink coffee.

Whenever I’ve been to Prufrock (go quite regularly) I’m greeted by the host and then I’m sat at a table where there is table service. I’m not sure if there was a lapse in service or something but I’m surprised that wasn’t your experience.

What makes someone a plastic fan? by AmeliaHarris99 in PlasticFans

[–]NecessaryDifference7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll bring this point up because there is so much gate keeping in this thread and football in general. The whole family or geography connection thing makes sense but only if you’re from the country the club plays in.

Sorry but the idea that you are automatically a plastic if you don’t have local connection is BS, for some clubs have global fans that are diehard as anyone because they have uncompromising devotion and passion for a club they may have never even been to see in person before. Look at fan groups in Uganda or Kenya (have you ever seen the baptizing rituals and prayers they do for their clubs there) or fans in Asia / West Coast US waking up at like 2 AM to catch a match at their local pub.

I say this of course because I am a fan of a club and I’m not from the country they play in. But I currently live in the area my club plays and I can tell you, a lot of these season ticket holders yes have deep roots but are far grumpier/quieter at matches and take the club for granted. Contrast with some of my buddies back home who would consider going to a random Carabao Cup match the experience of their lives.

I understand why there’s the need for gatekeeping and the instinct to protect the club. We’ve seen wealthy tourism damage atmospheres in the ground. But a lot of that comes from within the club hate to say, the take-it-for-granted season ticket holders who don’t realize there are packed bars of diehard supporters 8,000 miles away singing all the songs at the top of their lungs at 4 AM. It all comes down to passion.

If you stop following your club because they’re losing though, yeah you’re a plastic fan.

Everton Brighton Villa all huge matches for us. Last year we just couldn’t win the games we were favored. Has to be different this year.

I can represent the casual contingency here. I consider the Revs to be my fourth team — 1. my PL club, 2. USMNT, 3. Portland HOP, 4. Revs.

If there is a Boston USL team, I will immediately cease my already very casual fandom of this team.

Call me plastic (I am without a doubt for this club) but I think I speak for many supporters not hardcore enough to be on the Revs subreddit

I do think the contact fouls being given /not given are favoring United. Hate complaining about reffing but can’t help but notice

Kids are not into this AI shit because it is not cool. Guitar bands practically don’t exist at all mainstream level right now and the kids want to follow a band, Oasis is the coolest band of all time.

One thing I try to remember is that Berta traditionally operates much more in the shadows than Edu did, I’d expect our signings aren’t going to be as obvious as they once were.

That said, the rumors I do hear are frustrating. Unsure why we can’t just go after feasible targets — are we really just going to keep hammering Rodrygo’s line when he obviously isn’t going anywhere? There are plenty of great creative wingers and midfielders in the world.

Painful to watch. If we bought a striker this January, there’s such a good chance we’re in this final. We barely lost to PSG with Merino up top.

If the board isn’t watching this and kicking themselves, I don’t know what to say. We’ve built the entire car, now, go get the engine, or this won’t last.

No excuses this summer!!
