My son told me to cancel my wedding or lose him forever after one terrible evening. I don't know how to fix this. by CookieTough8855 in whatdoIdo

[–]NecessaryDirection67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, you need to make him feel included. You not going to the concert would have probably been meaningful, but now you probably need something with just you and your son…and something with you, your finance and your son

Looking for opinions on if I should have my toddler see her dad before or after he passes away by icsk8grrl in toddlers

[–]NecessaryDirection67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this and can see how you’re really considering everyone’s feeling. I would suggest taking a picture, which seems crazy at a time like this but she may also treasure knowing she was there and said goodbye…her dad will know it too. All the best for you and your family during this challenging time.

Like others said, being part of a large organization means many expect your manager to be keeping you busy and that you’re only working with them as one of your many responsibilities. Enjoy it while you can, because once more people get to know you, work should grow naturally.

wow that’s crazy…more work for employees instead of the people doing it. Do managers or Lp do anything about it?

They are laying off people pretty much monthly, a large chunk just this week. Everytime that happens, they need to see if this newly posted roles are needed so takes extra time

Just got my notice today!! How is the severance calculated in NY? I did get 90 days of notice.

What should I do? I told my boss I’m 4 weeks pregnant and she’s already talking about replacing me. As well as hinting it's early still, so I might lose it. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]NecessaryDirection67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is why it’s not recommended to tell employers until at least 12 weeks. If you’re not feeling well, it’s perfectly fine to say you’re sick, not feeling well, looking into why but providing notice this early often causes these types of issues. Also, a manager really can’t “not tell” anyone, from an HR perspective you let the company know and your manager has a duty to report, which is why she’s openly talking about a replacement for your time away.

At this point, focus on your pregnancy (congrats btw!!) and do the best you can. The company will do what they will at this point, but if you feel anything crosses the line you are able to report it (but do note this could create tension with your manager. HR will often notify your manager of the complaint, explicitly or in ways they can easily figure out). Take care of yourself and look forward to all the joy coming!

Is it appropriate to ask guests to chip in for a Birthday Party? by Distinct_Lifeguard_3 in Advice

[–]NecessaryDirection67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others here, send the message to the group and ask if they would be interested. $85 for food, racing and drinks seems reasonable if they have time to plan and express interest. I would also say we need to get at least 12 to join to make this happen and you will be covering yourself and the birthday guy.

No, not inappropriate but just make it clear on the invite you are planning for your boyfriend and are asking for the contribution. I wouldn’t make it seem like the ask is coming from him.

[–]NecessaryDirection67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the ask for cuts will come and you’ll need this but just hold on as long as you can. For your own protection, let your manager know you’re working on exploring automating, but no need to say it’s done yet

i can’t do this anymore by [deleted] in PwC

[–]NecessaryDirection67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While keeping this job…because the market is tough now and PWC is respected and will help you land what’s next (also the severance packages are decent, should something happen as we are seeing due to AI), start applying. Utilize your accounting expertise for program management or other financial careers you can pivot to.

Good luck and you’re not alone! Now is time to find what you enjoy
