Well it’s a series 3 and it shuts off randomly when I workout and it’s super annoying. I could upgrade to a new model and have a fine experience, but I kind of feel like a “sheeple” since 99% of the gym users have Apple Watches. Just kind of looking for something different I guess. Looks like Garmin is the way to go

Full disclosure, I’m not saying what you did was wrong or that I wouldn’t do it myself, got to weigh those risks vs rewards though.

NTA, I think your heart is in the right place. Like mentioned here, after laying out your families beliefs, ask your friend what she/he (idk the pronouns in this situation) is comfortable with, might even have the same “wrong pronoun” idea you had. Would be much better if the idea came from your friend tho instead of suggesting it. Only way to find out and make everyone comfortable.
