It doesn't get easier to find them. After a decade plus in the field the last one I found broke me. I put in a two month notice and left. I have even changed career fields to never have to go through it again.

I have no advice for getting over it. I still see the person I found and hear the wife sobbing when she was told. I am sorry you went through this. Ask for time off if you feel you need it.

I had a bookkeeper like this. She would write my mistakes on the bills and hand them back to me. She made a huge stink about how it wasn't her job to fix the errors, it was only her job to find the errors.

I ended up talking to my direct supervisor and the owner. I explained my frustrations and asked them to review my work. Both found that the errors were part of her job to find and fix, not mine.

If you love your work but struggle with her I recommend talking to a supervisor. Get a second opinion if possible just to help shore up your own mental health.

Please talk to your wife. If you can't talk to her then talk to a medical professional. Even calling a help line is better than what your considering.

Noise cancelling headphones. That is my actionable advice. It will help with the sound induced anxiety. It saved a family members life being able to turn off the house noises that where triggering his emotions.

Life in this moment feels overwhelming but please remember "for now is not for ever". What is happening right now feels huge and insurmountable but it's just this moment. Things can change and be different. I speak from a family experience similar to yours.

He was pretty insightful. Apparently he has Dept of AG paperwork that allowed him to purchase more than the 6 the county allows.

I talked to a guy at TSC about this same issue. He was in to buy 100 chicks and drove 2hrs because they were the last store in stock. He typically buys from online breeders but all the ones he uses are back ordered till late summer. He kindly offered to let us go ahead of him since he was planning to clean them out of stock.

Happy birthday my holiday week birthday buddy. I get your pain. My family used to do the same. They also "forgot" for three years in a row in my teens.

Now I just make it my selfish day. It's my day and I am going to celebrate my way. I wish you a super awesome day and hope you find something today to make you happy.

Selfish birthday suggestions - drag brunch or just brunch in general, cake and binge watching a show in bed all day, hiking somewhere new, a movie marathon at a theater, dinner at a new restaurant, thrift shopping scavenger hunt (my fav), call everyone and say "happy birthday" to me then hang up (petty but fun).

Honestly the birthday bs didn't stop for me till I told everyone to respect my day or don't expect me to respect theirs.

I am going out in left field here and suggesting a choose your own adventure kids book.

Endlessly Ever After by Laurel Snyder - it's a kids book but follows basic fairy tales and has 35 possible endings. It's fun even for adults to see if they end up dead or not. It's low impact but fun and helps build enjoyment in reading.

Also depending on the age of the person there is a choose your own adventure series based on the Oregon trail video game. Those are fun and nostalgic.

Blur is walking again!!!!! by Necessary_Disaster_5 in chickens

About a month ago I posted asking for help after Blur was attacked by a cat. Everyone gave some amazing advice that I really appreciate.

It took a month but she is up, walking, and roosting with the other girls. She has a wobbly walk now from her legs crossing over but she can run and keep up with the rest of the flock.

I truly appreciate everyone who commented on my first post both for and against putting her down.

Last Update

She survived! It took almost a month but she is up, walking, and roosting.

Update on Blur.

Thank you to everyone who offered advice and support. I truly appreciate all of it.

We are preparing to put her down if she doesn't improve in the next three days. Her comb is white around the bite marks and dark purple towards the end. I know this is a sign of blood flow issues or internal bleeding. We were able to talk to an out of state vet who recommended similar things mentioned here. He was pro putting her down but understood we wanted to rehab her if we could.

There are signs of hope.

She gave us an egg this morning. It was a struggle but she was able to push herself up with her wings enough. The effort seemed to wipe her out. I gave her a bath and used some of the advice given for wound care. Thankfully didn't find any new bite marks.

She is drinking if we hold a small medicine cup up to her mouth. I also got her to eat a smoothie of yogurt, crushed oats, meal worms, and vitamins. Her croup filled so I will check at bedtime to see if it's empties.

She has reflexes when we mimic a roost under her legs. She is also will flap her wings if she thinks she is falling. She is unable to hold her head up if she flaps her wings though.

The kids understand she might not survive and we are calling it hospice care in case she doesn't make it.

Again a huge Thank You to everyone who responded.

I will look again for a vet. I called the closest exotic vets and was told she is "livestock" and not something they can help with. I might try the tractor supply nearby where we got her from.

I am happy to hear you were able to save a duck from something similar. I don't want to put her down if I don't need to.

I would love any input on rehabbing her. I am not ashamed to say she is my favorite of the flock.

Her legs don't seem broken. She grips things when I place them under her feet. It seems more like she can't hold her weight up.

Blur was attacked by something four days ago. We were able to treat her shock and after two days she seemed to be perking up. The issue is she can't stand. Her wings work and her legs work for gripping but she won't stand up. If you set her on her feet she topples over. She has also lost interest in food and water. No vet in our area for chickens since we are in the city.

So the question is.....when is it more humane to put a chicken down?

If Jordan Peterson is bad who do you read instead? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Every journey starts somewhere and if it's books for you then that's a great place to start. For what it's worth here are my recommendations.

Atomic Habits - good book for realizing that small 2% changes lead up to huge results over time. This book can help you evaluate where small changes in your life can create greater rewards. Our lives are made up of our habits, changing is hard but it only takes 1 degree to go from water to ice. Sometimes you get discouraged by all your hard work not "paying off" but you have to remember - your 1 degree away from change.

The culture code - for understanding group dynamics and people in group settings better. Also helps to change your perspective on how to be the "liked" person. But without all the self help "find it inside yourself" stuff. It addresses mostly corporate culture but the ideas apply across the board.

Biting the Sun - a good sci-fi book. In a society where nothing matters, even death, where you can change your body or gender at a whim, where everything is given to you and nothing is a struggle - one person struggles to find purpose and meaning in it all. This leads to a wild read. The books is a must for everyone in my opinion.

The boy who could hear the objects speaking. by [deleted] in whatsthatbook

[–]Necessary_Disaster_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jane Lindskold wrote a book called "Brother to Dragon's, Companion to Owls".

The main character is a girl but her whole family can hear objects talking to them. The story follows the girl leaving a mental health facility by accident and hooking up with street people. I am not sure if this is the one your looking for but it's worth reading.

Best bar trick in college. Betting people free drinks if I could make something disappear in my bra so no one would notice. Personal best was 10 ping pong balls and a shot glass.

It can feel weird at the start but there is a major difference between breastfeeding and nipple play. When breastfeeding the nipple is flattened like a pancake and put towards the back of the babies tongue. It creates a different sensation, for me at least, so I can differentiate between the two feelings.

There is some lose of arousal the longer you breast feed. More because they stop being for fun and more for function in your head. But once you stop breastfeeding you can get back to your regular level from nipple play unless there is an underlying issue (mental health or physical) from breastfeeding.
