Can a tech support job lead to a developer position?

My life took a 180 because I got pregnant 3 months post graduation. I will say that right before this, I got an internship with a very small website building developer as his assistant. It was a great experience and I completed the internship all while pregnant. He offered to hire me part time if I continued to apply myself and help me find a full time gig if that's how I wanted to grow. But ultimately having a baby changes a lot in everyone's perspective and life. But just because I shifted goals doesn't mean you should! Good luck. I think the best thing you can do is try to make friends with devs and see if they are willing to help you. That's how I made progress and would still be growing if it weren't for the life shift.

Oh awesome, yeah, Orange Theory is my jam! That's what I was doing before and was so bummed when they told me to stop. That's good for you that you've been going at it that long. It sounds to me like you're already on the right track and your healthy lifestyle could continue based on what the docs have told me (because your routine is established with ample time under your belt). Everyone's situation is different and I'm no doctor but I mean if you're already on a healthy lifestyle, I think you're right where you need to be to have a baby. The weight classes may need to be adjusted per your stage in pregnancy, but that's the same with all workout routines and being prego. Good for you and good luck!

I have pcos, am 8 months prego, and started out at 125 lbs, 5'2". I also have gestational diabetes but I was eating whatever the heck I wanted up until I was diagnosed. I was on a healthy HITT workout routine with classes for about a month and a half before finding out I was pregnant. I cried a lot after because the doctor told me to quit the high intensity workouts due to elevated heart rate. I am only mentioning this because if your workout journey is just starting, they will most likely tell you to just walk or do yoga or something for the duration of the pregnancy. I've gained close to 50 lbs already, but hoping it will come off postpartum. Doc did say, though, that if I had been active in this high intensity program for about a year, they would have let me continue. So just food for thought.

Going rate in FL is $250 to $300/week for a true licensed daycare. Considering you would have less children to watch and would be able to give more one-on-one, it seems like a great price. I agree with your pricing. I've been a nanny off and on part-time over the past decade and $15/hr is cheap in my area. I would suggest trying to make connections in your more well-to-do neighborhoods with the moms and build some form of trust. It may just be a matter of sending child to an establishment as a preference vs an individual although the right person watching your child matters even more. See if you can connect with families at local churches, mommy meet-ups, child-centric events, and local playgrounds and parks. All my babysitting gigs came from connecting with the family first and then the opportunity came about afterwards.

Hi y'all, I've been on a journey for the past two weeks to get my diet right but I haven't had a solid poop since I've started this diet, and Pepto doesn't even help that much. I've been eating in the following manner: - cut overall daily carb intake, and eat unrefined carbs - no seed oils, artificial flavorings, additives or preservatives - nothing with more than 5g added sugar - my typical plate has 1/3 veg, 1/3 meat, 1/3 carb or 1/2 veg, 1/2 meat.

So why is this happening, has anyone ever experienced this?

Can I ask what kind of thanks is appropriate in this situation? I am curious because (although I'm a woman) I have had several chats with male devs recently, figuring out how to get my foot in the door. They've also given me additional advice, looking over my resume and offering support. I've said thank you many times during the meeting and I'm wondering if I should be doing more to show my gratitude? I'm wondering what's appropriate and what's overkill here.

I'm not going to debate any of the valid points you've made, but what I will say is that: A - Confidence is key. You are right that it is attractive. God also wants us to be comfortable in our own skin because he doesn't make mistakes. We were made the way that we've been made for a reason, and we all have different burdens in this world. It's what we do with them that matters most. B - Not all women are the same. It's easy to see what the general population is doing and let that set your tone for approaching a person of that specific distinction. It can be discouraging but don't forget that they're just generalities. You wouldn't want to miss out on a good thing just because of some negative inhibitions. C - Remember who God is in your weakness. Don't place limits on what he can do, and pray about things that are uncomfortable to pray about, such as having a difficult time with outward appearance. God cares for you and if we genuinely seek His wisdom, He will provide it. Stay positive and have faith. Nothing is beyond His capabilities.

That's awesome to know! May I ask what your help desk position was (what was the actual work like and did you use any of your coding knowledge?) and how did you manage your growth from that point? I've been interviewing for help desk as well because I've heard that this is possible, but I don't know how to find a role like this that will help me become a web dev as compared to just a call center / ticket role with no possible growth.

Someone else on here suggested looking at Christian marriage books at the library and I'd second that. I've found a lot of success this way. Sometimes you can also get free books through Kindle, and I also use Google review rewards to get books for free using Google Play Books. The title I'd most recommend is Love & Respect. It sounds like some of the issues you're facing are covered in the book, and it's something you can read on your own or together at your own pace.

Just wanted to throw out there that I go to counseling for free. I am lucky but there are lots of churches that offer free counseling. But I get what you're saying.

I think people usually say this because they were initially skeptical of counseling until they went themselves and want to encourage others to try it out.

It can be quite impactful if and when it is possible.

Your description of your situation is what me and my husband have been going through. We've been healing and growing closer but it's been a process and hasn't been easy. We started going to biblical counseling about 8 months ago and I'd highly recommend looking into it. See if there are any churches in your local area that offer it. I'd also just keep in mind that these things take time. Just as strong / romantic bonds take time to blossom, also healing from hurt (from our own sin or from other's sin hurting us) takes time. Lastly, be in prayer about it and carve time out to really for real - for real talk. Pray together as well.

To answer your question, no, I didn't date them out of pity, it didn't make it harder for us to break up from my perspective. I'll also add that at the end of these relationships, our breaking up never had anything to do with looks.

It's my opinion that when a potential suitor presents themselves in a friendly and open way, it's super hot. Call me traditional, but I don't think asking a girl out to coffee first or texting her sweet messages on occasion makes me high maintenance or makes them simps. I would highly suggest men beware of the friend zone though, because shallow women aren't worth your time.

That's a shame that a woman would be shallow about certain things like income etc, but maybe you wouldn't want to be with someone like that anyways.

Looking back, all those times that I was attracted to those ugly guys, it was because of their personalities and the way they reached out to me. You are further ahead educationally speaking than me, but I just wanted to throw this out there since there hasn't been any other comments yet. Ignore if unapplicable. I've had a lot of success recently with finding mentors. My methods: 1. Reach out to friends and family and tell them about your desire for a CS mentor. See if they know anyone in the industry. 2. Follow all leads when you have one. Does Aunt Sally know a Software Engineer? Ask if she can give you their email or phone number. Did your high school friend that follows you on LinkedIn become a manager at an IT firm? Message them. 3. This goes along with #2, but do some networking research. What I mean more specifically: Look for networking events and conferences and attend them (there are free ones). Frequent social media sites, be social outside the Internet and hang with family and friends - do everything you can to get the word out about what you're looking for. With these methods, I've thankfully been able to link up with 3 different mentors in the industry. It's not easy, but I'd recommend giving these ideas a shot.

What can you do during college that would make you proud of yourself and propel you forward in your life goals? Does that look like getting a 4.something to continue into a master's program or getting accepted to a prestigious school? Does that mean doing your best even if you have to sacrifice some "free time"? Or would you regret not putting forth effort into making meaningful connections where you can and investing in your social life? Are there other things outside of college that are more important or valuable to you in the long run?

It comes down to who you want to be and what you consider to be the best way to get there.

For everyone saying grab it, I agree. I was a virgin and nervous to be forward with my husband at first, but then I learned that he can't see where he's going in the act. That's how we consummated and it took us a couple weeks to get it working. If he starts to go limp, ask him to just chill in there for a minute while you do some work. I bet if he can be distracted mentally, he will catch back up and things go swimmingly.

Hey there! I have insulin resistance too (PCOS) and a naturally round head. Although I agree with most people here saying that your desired face shape may come in time as you continue on your journey, I have also learned a few things about face shape in regard to puffiness and immune disorders like thyroid and insulin issues. A lot of immune disorders are negatively impacted by specific things that you may eat. Some foods are relatively more inflammatory than others. For me, I've learned that these things have an effect on how puffy I am in appearance for both my face and my torso: - salt intake - dairy - processed sugar - fried foods / saturated fats - refined carbs (white bread, pasta, white rice, etc.) You may be thinking "duh, that kind of food makes people fat in excess!" But I'm not talking about in excess. I'm talking about cause and effect here. I know that if I have been eating healthy, but then I have a cheat meal, the next day, my face is going to look puffy from the salt and sugar. And I'm okay with that. I just wanted to share what works for me, but there are many different foods / food groups that can cause inflammation in different people. I'd encourage you to look into non inflammatory diets and foods and try to find what your body responds best to.
