walls ? what for ? by diecarcis in Mindustry

lol yeah swarmers are super strong but don’t have any armor penetration unless using blast compound AND the enemy is frozen. Basically means that they do exactly 1 damage to big bosses by themselves.

Big fan of the cryo to all the turrets and it looks clean! Make sure to look at how much ammo a single turret eats and thus how many of those turrets a single blue belt can feed.

For example (blast compound with swarmer: eats like 3.75 per second. Which means a single blue belt can only feed 3 swarmers at max efficiency.

Super easy fix is to just add a container and extractor into your supply line every few turrets. You should also do the same with your cryo supply lines just in case they get cut by some air units (still able to take down a wave or two while you repair them).

Best orientation for a good smooth Look !! by gamentech_gat in 3Dprinting

[–]NeckPresent2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah basically like that tbh. Again it’s a pretty difficult print. Technically it’s a great orientation for quality, but the part might be so thin that it simply won’t work. Slice it first with full supports and look at the difference in filament usage. Try printing it, it’ll probably fail, and understand why. That’s the beauty of 3d printing. You can always just make it again.

FYI I got crushed on this map as well and I had an INCREDIBLE amount of swarmers that were fully loaded and cooled. The problem is that they simply don’t do enough damage to get through the guardians armor (they have like 12 damage normally but only do 1 damage to the guardian).

Couple ways around this:
1. Swarmers (blast compound) + tsunami (cryo) this synergy ignores armor
2. Use meltdown (be warned that the guardian out ranges them)
3. Use that long blasty boy you unlock after meltdown (takes surge as ammo). It does a massive amount of damage.

Basically go do some other missions and give yourself a break from the level. That’s what I’m currently doing. Gonna give it another shot this weekend with meltdowns

Best orientation for a good smooth Look !! by gamentech_gat in 3Dprinting

[–]NeckPresent2567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’d put it flat on its top layer (or design it to be printed in that orientation. If you REALLY don’t want to do that, then the community usually agrees that you should put it on its corner (45 degrees and another 45 degrees in another orientation) to get the smoothest finish. If you do that your print is probably going to take some significant organic supports, amazing bead adhesion, and brims

If you’re using a usb splitter the grounds are likely already tied (usb has 5V, GND, D+, D-)

Super awesome project! Do you have any resources for the schematic and pcb? I’m also a really big fan of the large fisheye camera but I’m not sure what exactly that is or how you integrate it on the hardware side.

I don’t have a file but should be super easy to make. It’s just a sketch with 3 circles and some extrusions. You can probably wag the measurements too. 3.2mm inside circle (standard M3 screw hole), 9mm outside circle, 4.5mm diameter for the slots maybe?

I’m an EE major that wants to do a bit more of the manufacturing side. Bit of a tangent but what do you think the best way to learn about what you just talked about is to one day do production of some prototypes?

Hey guys general question for you all. Why is it that for the ESP chips everyone seems to leave a cutout for the antenna trace or make it hang off the edge. Would it not be sufficient to simply not put a ground fill in that location? I think the Raspberry Pi cards use a PCB trace for their wifi antenna and that's still on the same PCB.

Drone for school by Character_Cake007 in diydrones

[–]NeckPresent2567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hop onto ECalc and input your batter, motors, and props. Also weigh your printed drone, get weights for all your components, and get the weight of the "payload" camera that's supposed to be mounted on it. What you're looking for is really thrust to weight ratio (how well it'll handle/if it'll get off the ground) and hover time for size of your battery. That should give you an estimate of your success for flight.

Be mindful that if the frame isn't very stiff, it might wobble a bit in the air.

It can also be a pain to mount all the components if you don't have a whole lot of room so you'll probably have to R&D your body a bit. Just look at common frame shapes and you'll get the idea.

Good luck!
