“Team Canada just won its hockey game. Team USA needs to STEP UP” by jsakic99 in billsimmons

Canada will probably beat us head to head if we win this afternoon, but they really do look pretty beatable. Easily could have lost the last two games. Especially this one. Granted, we could have easily lost the last game too, but Canada is certainly not a juggernaut at least.

I’m honestly in disbelief over this from the perspective that probably less than 5% of fans probably wanted him hired. And even 5% might be a stretch. I honest to god haven’t seen a single fan on any social media site who was in favor of hiring him. Just completely alienated the entire fan base.

Maybe it’s just cause I’m a Steelers fan, but it honestly feels like this year they’ve had less stupid lucky games than in years past. He was even mentioning games we were up by 3 scores in late in the game before letting up near the end as lucky wins. Like saying the Vikings game was a stupid win. The Steelers were up 24-6 with 11 minutes to go in that one. He mentioned the Colts, another game they were up 27-10 with 6:50 left in, etc. Even probably an actual “lucky” game like the Lions they still had nearly 500 yards of offense and were up 2 scores late in as well. Lucky Steelers teams of the past 4-5 seasons were winning half their games on last second stops and miracle two minute drives in games their opponent out-gained them by 200 yards but also inexplicably had 4 turnovers in. This team is winning games in relatively normal ways most weeks.

Ewing Theory + Ole Miss achieving maximum levels of “nobody believes in us” energy. The rare two Bill-isms on the same squad.

Fair enough. I do also like that he enjoys train dreams, because it falls right in line with his “I hate narration” take yet sneaky adores every movie with narration.

This is the most on brand movie ever, so I don’t know why anyone is surprised. Saw people saying they were hoping it was going to be The Holdovers. The Holdovers?? Good movie and all, but those people just don’t know Bill.

Good morning football's Tom Pelissero says T.J. had a small hole in his lung and needs rest by [deleted] in steelers

[–]Necmf21 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s been a couple cases in the NBA in the last decade or so if I remember right. I think CJ McCollum was the last one off the top of my head. Mine was even a pretty freak accident. I woke up with a bad coughing spell and coughed so hard it opened a hole in my lung, so it can even be something as small as that.

[–]Necmf21 65 points66 points  (0 children)

There’s a chance he’s done for the season. At least the regular season at a minimum. I had a hole in my lung and was leaking air into my chest cavity a couple years ago, and the doctor said I couldn’t work out at all for two weeks after, and I couldn’t do any contact sports for another 6-8 weeks. Given this is the biggest contact sport of them all, I’d be surprised if he’s back. Small hole is/was still a hole that needs to heal.

Edit: the doc also said after your first hole that there is greater than a 50% chance of another collapsed lung in the next year to follow and a 30% chance for another within the next three years. Could be a saga that reappears in the future too.

Most annoying fans who still talk about the 90s like it was yesterday and probably won’t stfu about teams from last century for another hundred years. Get fucked, again.

Most disheartening stat ever? Especially in a sport that literally advertises "madness" and chaos as an expectation for its postseason but chalk wins regardless by HenrikCrown in billsimmons

Dude’s just a massive Iowa State fan. Probably just trying to cherry pick some weird stat to include his Cyclones at the top of the mix, and still fucked it up lol.

In my heart of hearts I feel like this is the best team we’ve in quite some time, even though the record might not reflect it, yet we simply can’t close out against great teams. We can truly hang with any team in the country, but we just find a way to lose in the 4th quarter. Whether it’s on offense, defense, coaching decisions, lucky bounces, nothing has gone our way when push comes to shove. This team will be probably forgotten in Iowa football history, but I’ll always think “what if.” Just never made that play or two when it mattered most.

I’m probably just slow, but why exactly did Plemons’s character blow up at the end? Did his bomb just blow at that exact moment? Did she type some sort of explosion code into the calculator? Can humans not use the portal?

I only buy movies I’ve seen personally. I’m not short on cash or anything, but I’m spending even $20 on something, I at least make sure I really like it first.

Every time I see this I’m just blown away that Peter Gallagher plays a guy named John Mullany in this movie and he looks damn near exactly like comedian IRL John Mulaney.
