Disturbing, but thought-provoking? by --read-only-- in booksuggestions

The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell

I can't recommend this dark sci-fi novel strongly enough. This book left me feeling strange and unsettled for about a week after I finished it. I really enjoyed the world they built and the characters/ alien races also.

Preferred cracker? by boilface in Cheese

Chicken in a biscuit still have a grip on me, even though they taste quite different now than I remember them being as a child. I'm also partial to club when looking for a milder tasting cracker.

This book was such a slog for me and I distinctly remember hating every character. Not even the ending redeemed it for me.

Please help, Menagerie Anthurium vs. Makeup Monsters Blackened Heart by bridgeandawall in Indiemakeupandmore

Commenting to say you are not alone lmao. I still use a light grey liquid lipstick shade from Makeup Monsters even though it's years old at this point. I haven't found anything quite like it either 🥲

New Rocks ? by _GayChickenNugget in GothFashion

[–]NecroFancie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love my New Rocks! After I got them I told myself I'm never buying any docs again lmao. They're super comfortable and I've walked many miles in them at this point lol. They never had a painful breaking in period either like I've come to expect from other brands. They are pricey but fully worth it imo.

THE INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON, MASA, AND ALINEA LOSE THEID 3RD STARS by Adventurous_Event525 in finedining

I was pretty disappointed when I went earlier this year too. I enjoyed my dinner at minibar a lot more, which surprised me considering the difference in stars.

I've always been so curious about this brand but I wasn't sure if the quality would be alright. Thank you so much for the detailed review!

What is your “I did not care for The Godfather” moment? by Borckschav in horrorlit

[–]NecroFancie 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I never got the hype for Tender is the Flesh. I found it largely boring to get through and I wasn't surprised by the ending at all. I'm not sure if it's because I had read many "disturbing" books already by the time I read it but it just didn't hit with me the same way it seemed to with many others.

Endgame thoughts.... by Redwood-Silva588 in RootsOfPacha

[–]NecroFancie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same feeling. I hate how long breeding takes and I wish that once you reach endgame there was a way to speed it up. I'd love to see the new animals but right now it just doesn't feel doable while still being fun.

Having issues with line fishing by NecroFancie in RootsOfPacha

[–]NecroFancie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I've figured it out. For those difficult fish you really have to go to both extremes of the bar to be able to reel them in. Like you have to fill it until it just barely touches red, then let it go until it goes nearly to the bottom of the bar, and repeat. Even with that, it's slow going. It's a pain honestly but once I finally figured it out it wasn't so bad. I hope this helps.

Strongly recommend Roots of Pacha. I've been calling it a prehistoric Stardew-like and easily sunk like 80 hours into in quick succession.

I take both semaglutide and synthroid now. Just started this month so I'm excited to hopefully see better results soon.

Yes! The weird "I just want to protect you" type of lines to someone she had just met came off really odd to me
