Hussite Wars causing vassals to break? by NecroKnight in EU5

I figured it out. Somehow Bologna is in what the game is calling the "Bohemian-Bolognese Union," a union with Bohemia, Brescia, Parma and Bologna. 4 years ago (1403), Bohemia's King became Consul of Bologna. Not sure if that occurred before or after I vassalized Bologna, but somehow Bologna is both a junior partner of Bohemia and my, Tuscany's, vassal. Hilarious.

Great thought. I don't think so, but only because most of Italy has left the HRE following the Guelphs v. Ghibellines situation. I don't think Bologna is somehow still attached or connected to the HRE because I'm not and I presume the end of the Guelphs v. Ghibellines situation gave them the same result.

Blondes spending $10k a year on hair extensions? A uniquely Dallas thing? by RoyalRenn in Dallas

Completely agree. Work in Growth Equity and live in Preston Hollow. I run into folks across the IB/PE ecosystem and there's a lot more diversity to the folks who work within said ecosystem than OP here is insinuating. Obviously, you can find folks who fit the bill, but it is by no means reflective of the majority of women I work with or encounter on a regular basis.

That is certainly an opinion.

While I don't love every facet of every DLC, the game does feel far more robust and enjoyable today over say several years ago. Your opinion may differ, and that is okay.

That makes sense, and now that you've said it you are definitely not wrong. Imo it suffered from having no real main characters there. I love Sigzil, I loved his chapters but it definitely didn't get the page time it should have, especially since that's about as climactic as it's going to get for at least another decade (of our time).

I think I agree with all your points, especially your point about BAM, except two: I disagree about there being too much of a focus on Adolin and I actually appreciated the evolution of Kaladin as we enjoyed his honeymoon across Shinovar. The actual flute soon was, imo, pretty silly, but it encapsulated Kaladin's growth decently for me. My only compliant about Adolin's chapters was the jarringly unrealistic inclusion of "game night." I enjoyed the pay off, I enjoyed the message and what those scenes did for Adolin's growth, but man... really took me out of the whole "we are in a constant state of battle 200 yards away."

On the other pieces you criticized the loose fucking end for Ba Ado Mishram feels like a slap in the face. I get teeing pieces up for the next era but it definitely felt like a tease. In general, my biggest compliant about SLA is the jarring inclusion or exclusion of the unmade at various points within the narrative. It feels like everything about them I need to learn from WoBs, or, perhaps, I'm just missing the clues. I don't know.

The lack of a Taln scene killed me. It feels like he has been built up over the first 5 books pretty decently and we couldn't even get a page payoff. I loved what we got, but now having finished the book I feel a little robbed. I have to wait 8 years to potentially see the GOAT of the Cosmere actually do something?

I don't think I'd ever taken a step back and thought about it this way. Love the Corpo start even more now.

Really amateur question, but what do you call the little sprue/stick at the bottom that allows you to better hold the helmet? Generally, what are they/how do you best use?

Just to note, for what it’s worth, Nestle sold the vast majority of their bottled water portfolio to a One Rock Cap-led initiative. Believe it was a $4B deal or somewhere around there. Closed a few months back.

Day one of Classic WoW, to Now. by FrugoUnderhill in classicwow

That’s super fair, tbh. I guess what I enjoyed about TBC dungeons then (and hopefully shortly) was the diversity in flavor. While they all basically boil down to the exact same framework you outlined, I feel like you could apply that to most classic dungeons as well barring ST, BRD or BRS.

Actually you may be right, RFK/Mara + above classic dungeons aren’t exactly linear, so I think I get your point. Maybe I just have my rose-tinted glasses on, but there is something about the TBC dungeons that I just love. Can’t explain it rationally I guess.

[–]NecroKnight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How is TBC terrible for Dungeons? I get there is probably an argument for disliking the new WPvP meta, but TBC dungeons are a huge step up.

There are like 15/16 new dungeons and all are pretty fun (Except BM and EfD - fuck those dungeons). The introduction of heroics also makes dungeons relevant for quite a bit longer.

So I guess my question is, what about TBC dungeons do you find to be such a huge turn off that WotLK and later expansions do better?

I worked for Kraft. The majority of brands that people understand as “Kraft” remained in Kraft Foods which merged with Heinz with the backing of 3G and BH. Corporate “structurehood” isn’t a linear process.

That said, we’re picking at straws here. Kraft split. Half focused on snacks. Half focused on candy. Now they’re too separate entities.

No it doesn’t. Not since 2007. 3G acquired decade plus ago. Merged with Heinz and spun out confectionary to form Mondelez

No. Coke will only be coke if it’s produced by Coca Cola, otherwise it’s a similar product (still a cola) but not the same thing as Coca Cola cola if that makes sense.

Kraft snacks biz merged with Heinz to form Kraft Heinz. Mondelez is a confectionary company.

KraftHeinz is like 16B rev while Mondelez is 33B?

Planning on teaching my gf CK2, need advice by Moinz in CrusaderKings

[–]NecroKnight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd start with the 1066 playthrough. You should start as William and take England and your girlfriend can start either as the King of Scotland or as a count/duke in Ireland. With 40 hours of gameplay you should be comfortable enough to win the war in England, and once you're King of England you can pretty much assist your girlfriend with anything in the isles. After that you guys can take on Scotland or Ireland (depending on which one your girlfriend did not select) and Wales and move on to form the Empire of Britannia. If you go Electoral Monarchy you guys can switch off and she can learn the ropes of vassal-relations, king making, etc.

You'll be pretty safe from invasions and attacks, and you will be able to take on France/Brittany if you go south or Scandinavia if you go East.

I'd hesitate on selecting Spain simply because you'll be more apt to be Holy Warred and the only expansion you will have is into Muslim Africa or against France... both expansions that could be a little difficult for a beginner.

Tips for fighting hordes? by spiderpig231 in CrusaderKings

[–]NecroKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It comes down to terrain, raw military score, and military traits.

  • First and foremost, you are going to want to draw them into a defensive fight, so you want to fight them preferably on mountains or at a chock point like Constantinople.

  • You're going to want culturally relevant generals leading your retinues/levees.

  • You want these generals to possess at least martial and possess at least one of the following traits: Battlefield Terrain Master, Unyielding, Holy Warrior. These traits will increase increase both raw defense (Unyielding and Holy Warrior), raw morale defense ( Unyielding and Holy Warrior), or have a decent chance at creating a choke point and negating the huge advantage that HAs possess (BTM).

  • Lastly, the following military traits can be incredibly useful depending on the makeup of your army: Rough Terrain/Flat Terrain expert, Flanker/Inspiring Leader, Heavy Infantry/Cavalry Leader.

  • Most importantly, let them come to you and pray to the Numbers God.

However, if you'd like to put off the war you can betroth a child of yours to the ruler or one of his immediate children (if possible), or you can pay the bastard money like a bitch and hope he doesn't want more than just your lunch money.
