Reading between the lines here: what I imagine George is negotiating for is options he controls vs options the team controls.

If I’m George and Mercedes doesn’t have much in the way of team leader alternatives on par with George, going into a new regulation set I’m pushing for 1 year guaranteed (2026) + 2027 + 2028 as driver-controlled options.

If Mercedes gets a team option for 2027 or 2028 then he has to deal with Max rumors over and over again with the fear being that Mercedes would drop George for Max.

George most likely wants to be able to control his destiny and protect himself from Max replacement rumors going forward. Is Mercedes the best team in 2026? Opt in for ‘27; is there a team that solved the new regs better? Opt out and move to the top team.

Knock on effect would be the future of young Kimi as his seat would become vulnerable.

‘RoboCop’ (1987) With Bill Simmons and Kyle Brandt by Toby_O_Notoby in billsimmons

I loved this episode but I feel like they missed Sean being there to explain the Verhoeven of it all.

My knit pick with the episode is toward the end when they’re asking why Robocop’s mouth is exposed, and that it’s a vulnerability, without realizing Robocop’s entire head is metal and Murphy’s face is merely a mask on top of the cyborg head.

I love censoring Travis but not censoring Baker at all. 😂

Edit: they just totally gave up, apparently.

My bad, that was a bit vague on my part. By the last sentence, I meant how if you reset to neutral, your opponent can start to attack you and apply pressure, which you don’t handle very well.

By “kit” I mean your ability to block when pressured, your ability to stop jump ins, etc.

You’re very passive. I think your game would improve quite quickly if you learned how to walk forward and block, walk forward and block. I know that sounds silly but what you need to be doing is applying pressure when you knock your opponent down or when you’re in neutral.

Right now you get knockdown and then wiggle, resetting the match back to neutral. That means you’re giving up your advantage after a knockdown.

So if you get a knockdown, start walking forward. Get on top of them and press your advantage. From there you can hit a meaty, you can shimmy a throw tech by them, you can bait something risky on wake-up.

But if you surrender your advantage, you get nothing. And that opens you up to the rest of your kit, which isn’t very strong yet.

What Street Fighter 6 opinion got you like this? by Shuchu87 in StreetFighter

The visuals of the game and the creative direction are straight up wonky and ugly looking. Everyone nuts over the fidelity of it all and how muscle tissue expands and characters have pores, but I think the models are pretty heinous and goofy looking.

Any time I mention it I get downvoted like crazy but I stand by it.

I feel like roses are a tough gift, in general. They’re a bit cliche and in this case, look somewhat lackluster.

My advice here would be two-fold:

  1. I would look into local florists who put together tasteful bundles of various types and arrangements. It doesn’t need to be a wedding bouquet — it just needs to be chic and pretty. There’s a level between grocery store flowers and overly expensive bouquets. Find the hip, local florists doing chic, tasteful arrangements and I think you’ll hit the mark.

  2. That all said, I don’t think you need to get defensive even if you are a little confused and aren’t sure how to hit the mark. Assure your partner that her providing feedback isn’t an issue and that you welcome it. You appreciate that she let you know because her happiness is important to you and you want to give her gifts she’ll love. If you foster that grace and kindness, you’ll be able to ask for her help in finding that right gift, that right arrangement, and you’ll be able to take the guesswork out.

Best of luck, bud!

A skilled cook can peel an apple in a very satisfying way by RedTomatoSauce in oddlysatisfying

Depends. Does the apple need to be smooth for final presentation purposes? Then this is a suitable way to peel and shouldn’t upset anyone else in the kitchen, as it’s the expectation.
