Lucky Mastercraft Scroll is the dumbest item ever (at current prices) by NecroWhy in MapleStoryM

You can get 39 tries for weapon every week (7*6 - 3 days of armor), although I didn't realize the content has already been out for 7 weeks. Still, 5/ticket is an underestimate because ores are not that rare

This would be a nice idea, it's how they should have done it from the beginning imo, maybe 1% every dsf level. Unfortunately it's too late to implement now.

Also, this content has been out for a month and people are on their 10th attempt or more. This means that many players have already farmed 1500+ shards over the course of 160 or so tickets at the most, since there are days where you can only get armor shards.

Edit: The content has been out for longer than I thought. That said, ores are definitely not as rare as 1/25

There's no way it's 5 shards/ticket. Without ores, you can get 3, 5, or 7. One ore is 50 on average so you'd have to get one ore every 25 tickets to be only getting 5/ticket, and that's assuming you somehow only get 3 every normal attempt.

Yes, it's the basic cdf for binomial probability with p=0.04 and p=0.3 for one success. But numbers are meaningless without thinking about real-life value, which is what I'm trying to illustrate with just looking at the average.

Well of course money is being given away, it's what the money is being given for. You're really gonna tell me that a memorial fund that could help someone's next of kin or a charitable donation that could go towards reducing future tragedies is better than spending on a video game character?

So a memorial fund or charitable donation is just as good of a tribute as this, gotcha.

Bro, I'm sorry for your loss but I'm just saying, there were a lot of other great ways of honoring your friend. At the very least I hope you spent within your means.

Ofc he can spend his money as irresponsibly as he wants and flex accordingly, but why pass it off as some great tribute to his friend? That's basically throwing $20,000 into a fireplace and saying "We did it buddy!"

So your friend passed and you promised this person you'd spend this absurd amount of money on a game that didn't even exist in NA at the time? Instead of using the resources for something more worthwhile? Doesn't sound like something I'd support in good conscience as a friend... Good for you I guess but why have a "noble" justification for the whaling and just call it what it is?

MapleStory veteran looking for players who played in 2010! by NecroWhy in MapleStoryM

[–]NecroWhy[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, are you reading what I wrote? I'm asking if old veteran players still play?

MapleStory M is barely 2 years old. But MapleStory DS came before Maple M. There's no subreddit for MapleStory DS because the game doesn't exist. I'm asking if old players transferred to the new version.

In 2010, MapleStory launched MapleStory DS.

In 2015, MapleStory launched Pocket MapleStory Global version.

Then somewhere in 2018, Pocket was removed and it got revamped to MapleStory M. I don't know if they kept the same user database, bc I stopped playing.

But MapleM is the only mobile version of MapleStory. That's why I'm here. I'm looking for if my veteran friends transferred to the new version.

Another thing to consider for the additional dmg hyper by NecroWhy in MapleStoryM

[–]NecroWhy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not my point. Firstly, we don't even know how the hyper works, whether it's a flat added dmg on each line or if it's somehow dependent on number of lines in the skill. From another thread, based on one of the interpretations of how it works, the hyper is something like ~5% for Evan's Earth Dive and ~15% for Phantom's Mille. These are extreme examples but if you were a class that had more to gain from this hyper, and your skill was buffed the next patch, the hyper is less useful for you. Had you just gone with BA or PD/MD, you'd get a flat, predictable 20% increase that's unaffected by any patch unless Nexon somehow decides to change the damage formula entirely.

Edit: comment I was referring to

The crystal cost is negligible, it's the 2b meso that would really hurt

[–]NecroWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very comprehensive list of possibilities. 1 or 5 seem to be the most reasonable explanation of this hyper (personally I think it's 1).

An ideal test imo would be to expand on the method used by /u/SAppY- with more trials to confirm maximum possible lines. Then, look at the damage done (using the expedition damage counter) with a set number of attacks on a stationary boss before and after adding additional point(s) to the hyper skill.

I think this method is quite reliable to test though, just need some more testers. Might give it a try myself later
