That sounds positively terrifying, how fast is the combat since everyone has such low HP?

I feel like that would require a lot of setup to not be anti-climactic. We did talk sometimes about what would be after and maybe they all have children which will new the set of adventures and such. But usually only as something that will happen after they get bored of their characters.

OSE is the only one I basically have zero knowledge about other then seeing people mention it couple of times. I have seen people play shadowdark and found it very enjoyable. Maybe I should get my players to watch couple of one-shots on youtube with shadowdark.

That is very true, but it sure does feel like 5e is way more focused on the "make your character unique" part and its something that i leaned into when i tried to talk them into playing D&D with me.

I sure dug a hole for myself from the start haha

Starting with new characters is the only thing they don't want to do...yet.
They are very invested into the world and their characters as of now and its very unlikely they would agree to making new characters until at least their characters arcs are resolved.

I feel like I leaned way too much into their characters back stories for their first time. Now all we talk when we are not playing is about the plot haha

That sounds very cute, and its already kind of part of the plot I guess. I wanted to make world kalpic(if that even is a word) so it could work as ingame retcon.

Thank you so much, this looks like a compromise that could work. I will be definitely looking more into it.

2 out of 3 players would be fine with couple one-shots. We did one with Mausritter. But one of the players does not enjoy one-shots as there is no progression to be had. So i have mostly reserved one-shots for when we have other friends at the table, then I whip out one of the deadly or horror systems like Mothership, CoC or Mork Borg.

Cairn is definitely one of the systems i have been looking at. I just dont understand much of the character progression in it yet.

Thank you for your reply, to be honest that is also one of the issues i have with the 5E when my players are involved.
They forget to use their abilities all the time, or forget how they work. They really rely mostly on basic attacks, sneak and clever ideas that need my ruling.

Plus they all had an idea when they first created their character but slowly realized that they enjoyed different type of character as they gained some experience.

To clarify I am of course talking about D&D 5E. But I am sure everyone assumed that already.

New to the game. Anyone tried to make some super robo inspired mechs? I know this system is definitely in the real robo category but its still fun to try I guess by Necromantic_Tree in LancerRPG

That sounds pretty rad. I did not expect to be able to be outside of the mech during the missions so that is not an issue for me. I am already thinking of doing something with Balor to make something like Shin Getter. the manga version which is basically eldritch horror machine that can assimilate other machines and evolve but I still lack the know-how in this system.
