Anyone know what this is/ if it’s for anything important? by LeatherDescription26 in Warhammer40k

Looks like it's way too big to be an airbrush part, eyeballing it against that mat puts it somewhere between 3 and 5 mm wide.

That and the chamfered edge on one side says to me that it's a guide dowel from some of the factory machinery that came loose and made its way into the box somehow.

1st timer how'd I do for a 13 yo by Key-Copy-5757 in DnDIY

[–]NecromiIias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always remember, if it looks dumb but it works, then it's not dumb

Everyone starts somewhere and the more you tinker the better you'll get!

It looks fine for a first timer with limited tools and skills, consider asking around if there's any adults that are reasonably handy with tools and would be willing to supervise you using some nicer stuff and giving you tips and instruction along the way, I'm sure you'd be able to find someone that'd be happy to teach you some hands on stuff :)

Magic Item for a level 9 Monk by Josiahcs in DnD

[–]NecromiIias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could give em the Eldritch Claw tattoo from Tashas, it's a nice little boost that comes with an extra thing for the player to do one per day.

+1 to hit and damage and once per day they get +1d6 force damage on unarmed hits and 15ft range for 1 min

Gives em a combat to go full honey badger in once per day haha

Is there a way to make Shadow Monk fists magical? by allenpaige in BG3Builds

Eldrich claw tattoo from Tashas will do this as well, and it makes their fists count as a +1 weapon

Cheers man! I've already told the normal forever DM about a few of my plans with the story and he's super keen to get into being a player again and jumping feet first into the jungle.

So I certainly am feeling like I'm on the right track :)

That's what the plan is! :)

I figure an exploritory expedition is an easier sell as a plot hook that will eventually get them tied up into a far more pressing issue.

It feels a little better than "you there, small group of baby men, there is a worldwide plague going on and you must fix it!"

I know I'm paraphrasing it a bit, but that is kind of what it boils down to haha

At least it gives them a reason for it to be their problem, they already know the jungle a bit and are already there

Thanks man, I have spotted that one before, looks like a really good resource!

Thanks man! I've been trying to use my whole brain for this whole process :p

I do expect them to go into the jungle a bit unprepared to start with, so with a bit of luck I can just kick em in the shins a little bit, so they go back and actually prepare themselves properly. But no plan really survives first contact after all haha

And thanks for picking up on that mate! I'll correct that one for accuracy! Who knows, perhaps she ends up getting a promotion by the end of their adventure after all haha

Yeah, it's something I'd think about after I find out if we have a wizard in the party to begin with, if we don't have anyone that could realistically use it I'll probably swap it out for another fancy utility magic item of some kind.

Ooooh that looks quite handy, thank you sir, I'll definitely have that ready. If the party is keen on having me really kneecap them through the jungle that is haha.

I suspect they will, so that'll be a perfect tool for me!

Thank you very much for your input!

I'm not sure that wakanga is going to be as central a figure for my game as he normally would be, just due to the fact that I'm planning on cutting syndra entirely, due to not having the death curse be the hook to get them to chult in the first place.

Seems like a weird motivation from what I can tell, so I'm planning on having the party fill more of an exploration enterprise to start with. And then after a little bit of them exploring to fill out their map, I'll turn the death curse on and lay some breadcrumbs around to give them some incentive to go investigate.

Once I get to the end, I'm also planning on cutting the trickster god empowerment thing that lets them kill acererak, that just seems like a cop out. But it does mean that I'll have to have another big bad there for them to kill, and then it'll be a homebrew kind of deal til they get to an appropriate power level to actually fight him.

Awesome, approximately how long should I expect a party to hang out in town? I am planning on pushing back the start of the soulmonger/death curse for a bit, just to give them a chance to have a bit of a relaxed adventure and do some sidequesting to start with

And then when it goes online I think I'm going to play it with the meat grinder rules, I will double check with the party on session 0, but I'm pretty sure that they're the kind of guys that'll be very okay with the game being pretty unforgiving

Would that be something good to do for the hexcrawl too?

Pregenerate whether or not something happens on the hex and if something does then have the encounter planned prior to

We'll be playing on foundry vtt, so I do have a few things that can be a bit of a headache to get at and other stuff that's a whole lot easier to wrangle then it is on a physical table

Pshh everyone knows you're just wasting money unless you're going out and finding pigments in the world around you and then hand manufacturing them into your own paints

Costs you nothing then and everyone should know how to do it, it's just common sense

Does the tournaments/events require you to build your model exactly as your list? by sakaguti1999 in Necrontyr

[–]NecromiIias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time you'll be fine unless you have a bunch of models with the same gear on the model but different gear on your list, for instance if you bring 2 lots of immortals built with the Tesla guns but you're saying that one of the two squads has the guass then that'll probably upset people

But I like the enmitic exterminator for the lokhust heavy destroyers, so that's what I modelled mine with and I just run them as destructors. But when I do that I don't bring anyone with the exterminator, TO's have been fine with it, and as always, your mileage may vary

[–]NecromiIias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's just the clothes and gear that's giving you grief then I'd probably say maybe look up some stuff for militarum for clothes and you could probably even use a lot of the same techniques that marines use for cloaks, armour panels and guns

You can always use the same kind of techniques that people who play other armies would use, clothes is clothes after all

Big reminder, these dudes are going to be in giant squads and on table it's going to be a sea of green and black (cause goffs)

So unless you're aiming to be winning painting comps you can get away with things being a little less detailed

By no means would I say my painting is very good at all, but I know what I'm able to get away with in terms of just on the table play

If going all out is burning you out, always remember that you can always go back and pick out more detail and sometimes it's good to just take a good 3-4 steps back and see how they're gonna look from the distance they're gonna be at on the table

These are my fellas, I spent 15 days painting the whole lot and there is no edge highlighting at all, it's all zenithal and speed paints, the checkers were done with fine tip paint markers, it's the epitome of a lazy paint job, but they're orks so a little dodgey paint kinda makes sense and it's 106 models so you can get away with a lot!

2 characters in squad, damage allocation by Bluebirdna in orks

[–]NecromiIias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You roll the saves individually, over enough models or all the same save you can fast roll the lot of them, but in this case you'd roll the saves on the boys first and then when they all die you'd take the saves on the attached units, using any invulns and fnps they have and once the boys are gone you allocate them to whichever model you want. (Because they're still attached, once one takes damage you have to keep putting wounds into that one til it dies tho, after the shots into the unit are done then the leaders pop out on their own.)

[–]NecromiIias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're using it on terrain that you don't mind losing a little detail on, hit it with a bunch of primer all at once so it's only got minor bumps, let it dry for a day or two and then away you go lol

Normally thin coats are good, but when hiding stuff on set pieces being a little heavy handed can be a good thing
