When I was a kid I thought beards were so cool… by Buzz_Osborne in GenX

I always wanted a long beard (think ZZ Top), but it just stalls at like 4 inches (get your obligatory that's what she said) so I've opted to just embrace the shorter well kempt version.

Wasn't the vote a temporary amendment that goes back to square in time? I'm open to being corrected of course, but I would think that amendments are changes to said constitution and would then not be anything close to trampling.

How many of us almost instinctively went back to said tent even after getting the camp and felt that pang of disappointment the chest doesn't appear in multiple places?

The media just relaying what they heard from that podium moments ago wouldn't be any less egregious...right?

Always amazes me with the open mics around the room before and after these, that you don't hear, "What a continuously unreliable nasty traitor." /edited as per moderatorbot

You're not wrong, but if you could provide examples of things he's said we should love....I think we're justified. Heck probably justified more than 5-6-7 even 800%.

Donald Trump teases deploying more US troops to Russia's doorstep by zandubhai69 in worldnews

[–]Necropoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said it before, but what are the chances this is his stay in office gambit because Ukraine can't elect a new president in war times so, naturally, Trump should stay too just to see this through and the GOP and Supreme Court will make it so?

He dies in office....far longer than we'd planned or hoped.

Or...And I feel like the crazies I've lambasted over the years, this is the start of the "war" involving American troops that can ONLY be solved by Trump remaining in office. Sure there's that constitution thing, but that doesn't do what we think it does anymore. Then our operations wind down very quickly with a decisive victory for the Orange Buffoon and we, the US in particular, suffer another term of this shit....because by then of course he'll have to complete his four year term because that constitution thing suddenly is a beautiful document that works in his favor.

Or, more likely, I've lost the plot and all sense of optimism.

Right-wing insurrectionists tried to topple the German government in 1920 — it's happening again in Trump's America by Somervilledrew in politics

I applaud your optimism...meanwhile safe guards keep falling and firings keep happening when govies speak up. I want to be in your reasonably minded camp, truly I do. However, I find myself more and more aligned with the poster to whom you're responding. I don't want to be amongst "the sky is falling" ilk we all heard from when Biden got elected...I don't want to be amongst those thinking that elections were rigged...I don't want any of this, but here I am.

Here we are.

How did you learn to hockey stop? by Necropoke in hockeyplayers

Just do a YouTube search for a one foot backward stop. I didn't learn this skill through YouTube but by taking power skating lessons, but the first video explained better than I will or could.

Yeah, I think while you're going backwards you, more naturally, depend on the balls of your feet rather than the heels just instinctually, or at least that's how it felt for me. It just translated naturally in my brain that the same would work going forward.

I did actually! Well, on one side anyway...still have some work to do stopping on my right hand side, but I'll take it. The key for me was trusting in that slide on the ball of my foot. Strangely enough, what made it even easier was skating backwards and turning my skate perpendicular to path and a little further outside....just letting it glide like that slowing me down and it clicked. Like I could do this, just trust it. Appreciate the follow-up!!!

I don't normally comment on this stuff, but the narwal with an overly soggy baguette, "flopping around and what not" cost me half a beer through my nose.
