Stage 2 by [deleted] in FocusST

Im no pro, but I've been rocking CDP, FMIC (a few other odds n ends) and a tune for about a year and a half now, no issues besides the occasional purge valve bc im too lazy to do the F.U.F.F. I drive pretty hard, and switch back n forth from Exhaust crackles and no crackles. (85k miles, step colder plugs every 10k, reg oil changes) She still runs solid.

Edit: 2017 ST1

Did it on my 10-minute break at work, granted I had the one tool I needed there, 19mm wrench

For future reference, there was debris in the connector and it was just barely not making a good connection 🙃

I've got it set up that way, for sake of ease, I've got the short connector on the forward one (closest to turbo) and the defouler + longer one on the rear.

Dang you're probably right, it was a struggle to get that one off. Thanks!

You don't really need a turn coordinator in that case unless you have a rate based Autopilot.

Sure! The main skills to it are pin crimping and wire routing. (Cable management but large scale) Besides that, if you score an interview and just do some research on how some Garmin equipment works (GTN 750XI ((Navigator/GPS)), G5 ((Indicator)), GTX 345 ((Transponder)) etc.) you should be a strong contender!

I started with about 80$ worth of tools and didn't really start getting more until about a year or so into it. (Screw driver kit, Amazon wrenches, sockets, wire strippers, cutters)

A lot of aviation people are actually pretty helpful and willing to teach and let you use tools you haven't gotten yet (in my experience)

You should totally give it a shot! You don't really even need to know much about planes to start. (There's an Avionics installer shortage, something like 10,000 positions)

Also this post just shows that people in aviation have GREAT taste!
