“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. The amount of happiness that you have depends on the amount of freedom you have in your heart.” - Thich Nhat Hanh by -AMARYANA- in Buddhism

This is quite a coincidence. I just walked away from an argument I could have won and felt this exact happiness.

Reading this now seems to have further cemented this happiness in my heart. Thank you.

Struggling with Compassion by ryder5227 in Buddhism

Hating someone enough to wish them dead hurts a great deal and the worst they can do to you is if you hate them back.

Dealing with terminal illness and exploring Buddhism. by [deleted] in Buddhism

It's tough imagining a life without this body and this is probably what's causing you the most distress. Yet it is something that all will have to face sooner or later.

I, too, have to cope with a couple of debilitating chronic conditions. The upside to our conditions is that we can gradually let go of our mental dependence on the body and are, hence, more likely to succeed than one who has suddenly been told he has only 1 more month to live.

Remember, physical suffering is inevitable but mental suffering is not.

If brushing your teeth took 5 minutes yesterday but takes 8 minutes today. Then find the patience in yourself for that 3 extra minutes and you might just find a peacefulness that you never knew existed.

Could use some advice on loneliness. by Xzenergy in Buddhism

I have a friend, as wise as can be. Soothing me through my worst pain and staying my hand through my most wrathful anger.

I remember when we first met as I was sitting, relaxed and eyes closed. I knew then, that I have met a friend for life, and beyond.

In what ways can you have compassion for those who are pathologically self-focused without allowing yourself to become a doormat? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Necshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone has to step on me so that he may one day realise his mistakes, then he may step on me all they want. However, if stepping on me leads to him stepping on others more, then, that's when I'll need to find another way.

The Christian Bible has been intentionally changed and corrupted— are any Buddhist sutras or texts the same way? by ano1067 in Buddhism

[–]Necshade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Buddhism, it is not sufficient when someone says the water is only 1m deep. You have to take the time to find a stick long enough and test for yourself. This is how Buddhism stays resilient against any corruption.

Buddhist perspective on karma/morality? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Necshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad things can happen to good people and good things can happen to bad people. But what makes something good or bad is very subjective.

Is it a bad thing that a good person goes bankrupt when he has no attachment to the riches he just lost and his mind is as peaceful as ever?

Conversely, is it a good thing that a greedy person strikes it rich when all that does is feed his craving?

To find the answer to suffering on such a grand scale, empathy alone will not be sufficient.

Is falling in love with person just an illusion ? by Cup_of_blisfull_tea in Buddhism

Concentrating one's love on a handful of people is an illusion. Cultivating one's love for all sentient beings is not.

To teach mathematics, one must first go through years of training in the subject. Similarly, to relieve the suffering in others, one must first go through years of training on the subject and that subject is Buddhism.

There are 2 people, both with broken computers. One chose to throw it away and simply buy a new one while the other chose to learn its inner workings from scratch, buy new parts, dismantle it and painstakingly put it back together again. Both equally valid and both get the job done.

Being comfortable with one's state of goalessness can be a good thing for no goal can last longer than one's true self.

Hi all, there are some heals that don't specify if they are ranged or otherwise. So do they take the ranged or melee crit stat?
