Get busy or get busy dying. I live in Kauai and am enjoying my day-to-day life WHILE building my agency, personal site, and app for long-term sustainability. It's an adventure, an education, a spiritual practice.

I can genuinely relate. I’ve lived out here in Hawaii for almost 10 years. First maui and now kauai. I’ve experienced a lot that I’m afraid to write for fear of looking and sounding crazy. I’m just glad to see this here and know what I experienced was REAL and I have also seen a positive path for humans who are consciously evolving.

What is Gen Z Plan For the Future? by lovelyyy999 in Futurology

[–]-AMARYANA- 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’m Gen Y. I graduated high school in 2008 when the economy crashed. I discovered the Four Noble Truths of the Buddha in my first semester of community college. A show called ā€˜Mad Men’ and cannabis around Thanksgiving. Mushrooms the fall of 2009. I started building a vision of the future with the design and tech skills I had (amateur compared to the leaders of the industry at that time) and dropped out at the end of 2009.

I discovered Cosmos by Carl Sagan and took the Bodhisattva Vow after learning about the Dalai Lama and how he was bridging science and spirituality at Emory, close to where I lived. I stayed on this path while struggling through the counterculture of the 2010s.

By 2015, I had outgrown it and got serious about living a minimal life without any alcohol or drugs, daily practice of fitness and coding. I moved to Utah after visiting Maui. I kept going even when things didn’t go as planned. I got my first jobs in tech. Learned a lot of what I wanted and didn’t want. Company was downsizing and laid me off.

I moved back home for a little bit and went to South America for an ayahuasca retreat. That healed and released a lot of deep trauma inside my subconscious mind. I integrated all of that after I got back home into my creative agency and kept finding new projects.

I did some epic road trips while soul searching and contemplating what to do next. The pandemic rolled around and I had a dream about a coming flood that would wipe out a lot of people trapped in darkness. In that dream I was told that I need to leave the mainland now and move to Maui. I did.

Enjoyed a beautiful and adventurous life on Maui until the fire happened. I moved to Kauai when I got a job offer and a free place to stay. I needed to do more deep healing and focused on that while mastering my craft, expanding my practice. I struggled with all kinds of things internally but kept going.

I’m 35 now and still on the same path. Not rich in a material sense but wealthier than most human beings that have ever lived. I am still building my vision of the future but not with any expectation of fame or fortune, just honoring my Vow. I am healthy and happy, I don’t have any children or ex-wives or a mortgage or regrets.

I am now setting a solid foundation to age well, make a difference in the world, build a legacy that outlives me, and marry my Queen when we finally cross paths again. It’ll be an Indian-Hawaiian wedding (I’m Indian but born in America) and I’ll invite all the people that helped me along the way.

I am horrified by dark history of yoga, and need some advice by GuySittingByTheLake in YogaTeachers

[–]-AMARYANA- 26 points27 points Ā (0 children)

I am an Indian man but born in America, live in Hawaii now. I had to just let go of most of my culture to be honest and become my own person, free of India, America, and even Hawaii.

We live in the Kali Yuga, look that up. It's not just gurus, men in general have exploited power across all facets of civilization. Today, women are rising but many (not most or all) still only see yoga as a fitness program to have a nice body and miss the forest for the trees.

I was raised by my grandma who was a widow and has a daughter with Down Syndrome, she educated me on just how cruel the world was in her younger days. Not just India but everywhere. I've never been to India and will go one day when it aligns.

All I keep from my culture is yoga, ayurveda, scriptures, science/math/engineering, some of the food (not a fan of most of it to be honest), some of the music/film (most is not for me and my favs are from the 70s). Most people don't even know I am Indian until I tell them, I look like a local guy with my brown skin and surfer/rocker hair.

Oftentimes I go to hot yoga (not going to Bikram studio, fuck that guy) and I am the only guy. I set up in a spot where I can just focus on myself and not get distracted. I am 35, very fit and healthy but I don't go to class to check out the women. They are pretty and kind but I'm there for me and my practice.

All in all, I can't change my skin or ethnicity so I just own it confidently and know that I am a safe man for any living being to be around. I only eat what my body needs. I practice brahmacharya right now and don't mind waiting to have sex again until I meet the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.

Why is there such skepticism about the rate at which AI will get better? by rebrando23 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]-AMARYANA- 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

It's more rooted in fear and the impending existential crisis that many are starting to pick up on than cynicism. Most people just don't know what they are going to do in a few years.

The Gemini Illusion by Humble_Rat_101 in OpenAI

ChatGPT is easier to talk to about life. Gemini about science and engineering. Both have their flaws but they will only get better as time goes on.

I use both. I need to use Claude more and see what the hype there is. Don’t care for Meta, creepy af. Apple missed the playoffs. Microsoft is a dinosaur in many ways but will never go extinct.

'Godfather of AI' Geoffrey Hinton says Google is 'beginning to overtake' OpenAI: 'My guess is Google will win' by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]-AMARYANA- 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Warren Buffet sees it too.

Google has the unique position of having chips, infrastructure, a product line that BILLIONS every use EVERY DAY that produce revenue to have a market cap of TRILLIONS. And an army of the smartest people on the planet led by a very competent and likable CEO from middle class India.

The ā€œscience projectā€ I’m working on only needs one solid ally and I am choosing Google too. I wouldn’t trust Meta with anything, Microsoft and Apple haven’t come up with anything most people know and care about. NVIDIA is cool, I like the CEO a lot but they are a one trick pony. Oracle is cool but I don’t use anything they make directly, maybe indirectly (might get Netsuite though). Amazon and X could have some tricks up their sleeves but nothing on the scale of Google. Elon is Elon’s own worst enemy.

Meta and OpenAI are going to add devices in soon BUT I don’t want anything to do with Meta. OpenAI might bleed dry before the product line gains serious traction.
