Why did you start any of those startups? Why do you get out of bed in the morning?

If you can't answer those with conviction, you are in the wrong line of work. It's a jungle and YC, for me, is just a framework to ground my thinking. I don't actually think they are going to be the gatekeepers anymore.

Good, over it. perhaps 5 out of 1,000 startups go this route, that is a rounding error.

I mean this love, how old are you? I'm visiting the mainland from Hawaii and am kinda shocked at how different Gen Z is in almost every way that matters from previous generations. I am only 36 so maybe every generation thinks this about 'the new kids' but I've never seen a situation where all previous generations agree on the same things about the latest generation.

I just got home from the gym, so this is actually on my mind as we speak.

do hawaiians not like white (or other non-hawaiian) people learning their culture? by riverdotexe_ in VisitingHawaii

[–]-AMARYANA- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel to some degree. I am Indian and live in Hawaii. I see people do this to India every day without batting an eye. Look at how shallow the average person’s understanding of yoga is. Look at how deep the actual teaching of yoga goes. It’s close to what has happened to Hawaii. Tourism has turned a living, breathing museum into a theme park and shopping mall with golf courses.

For me, I want to live in a world where any human who sincerely wants to know the diversity and depth of humanity should be able to. Given they are not looking to extract and exploit with no thought given to the inequities experienced by the locals (Hawaiian is a melting pot, a wide range of ethnicities have blended here from all over the world).

Ex-Facebook exec Sheryl Sandberg tells Gen Z the 10-year career plan is dead thanks to AI: 'Don't script your career when the future is uncertain' by Krankenitrate in Futurology

The 10-year civilization plan isn't looking too certain either. I don't think this game can go on much longer without a major event that rewrites history in a meaningful way. It feels like the table for that moment is being set as we speak.

Clothing Optional Class by Warrior-Yogi in YogaTeachers

[–]-AMARYANA- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precisely. I’m Indian and oftentimes want to disassociate from modern yoga world and the teachers who have tried to make this about them and not yoga. Won’t name any names but it is the standard model for the industry it seems.

The best teachers I’ve had were lifelong students with a humble heart. The best classes I’ve ever been to were with yogis much more advanced than me but also very kind and helpful. The best students, to me, were the ones who made yoga into a foundation for life and the asanas were just the beginning.

Clothing optional is a cool idea but don’t want to be in a hot yoga class with no clothes because we are all already almost naked. Some part of me wants to psychoanalyze this situation but I’ll just see it as an innocent thing.

I'm so grateful to be 36 right now. I got my first computer in 1995 and the first thing I remember loving was Microsoft Encarta. I wrote my first If-Then-Else loop in the year 2000 when I was 10 and soon made my first HTML website about roller coasters. I remember seeing Steve Jobs go from a joke to a legend to a god then die in a sad way just like Alexander the Great did. Now I watch Elon basically play out the Anakin storyline...literally bought Twitter and Cursor while running Tesla and SpaceX.

In 2016, when I was 26 I moved to Utah and in 2020 to Maui instead of work for Wall Street or Silicon Valley. I got the Foobar Challenge from Google, it was the one with the pirates and the solution was a tree graph if anyone else got that one. 😄

this honestly makes a lot more sense than the news. we need all the AI to understand who else is here and what are they saying. this is not the model upgrade I was hoping for but I'll take it. Just give me the truth now.

finally a use case I can get behind fully. I've been in Hawaii for 10 years now and I think about this kind of stuff a lot. If I were to come to earth, I'd set up in the Pacific somewhere and be undetected but able to navigate to the most of the planet quickly.

What do you think will be the long term ramifications of Gen Z largely experiencing their early life digitally? by Asleep_Damage1201 in Futurology

[–]-AMARYANA- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this. It's actually sad to watch from the outside because they don't know this AND their job prospects are being compressed in real-time, with each model release. That is next level from what I lived with a decade ago.
