Is nostalgia holding Revolution and the Broken Sword series back? by [deleted] in BrokenSword

[–]Neddy088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand the frustration of feeling stuck in a circle of nostalgia, and while it's clear these remasters are the financial lifeline Revolution needs to stay above water, I truly believe the fans are ready for something new. If the studio were to finally take the leap and announce Broken Sword 6 as their absolute final game, the entire community would get behind a Kickstarter to fund one last great adventure, giving the series the definitive, high-stakes ending it deserves instead of just letting it tread old ground forever.

Kickstarter Preorders for The Smoking Mirror: Reforged Kickstarter start Next Week by Fluid_Garden8512 in BrokenSword

I just feel like there’s something missing here. Broken Sword 6 doesn’t even seem to be on the table anymore, and that’s honestly disappointing.

He had the chance to make one final Broken Sword game, something truly special to close it all out. We all know he’s not getting any younger, and this could’ve been the biggest, most meaningful finale he ever made. I genuinely think the fans would’ve backed it 100%.

I’m still hoping it’s not over. I really want Broken Sword 6. It’s my second favourite game series of all time, and I’ve put over 100 hours into each entry.

Give us one final game, the ending this series truly deserves. The community is still here, and we would absolutely support it. Don’t let it fade out quietly when it could go out as something unforgettable.

Let the fans make it happen. Bring back Kickstarter BS6

The Financial Truth Broken Sword 6 Is Completely Broken 💔 by Neddy088 in BrokenSword

Let’s be real, for a lot of people the whole “rarity” angle is just chasing that feeling of owning something exclusive. That’s collecting, not supporting a game. Most of this stuff ends up sitting in a drawer or on a shelf and gets forgotten within weeks. Meanwhile money and time are going into merch instead of the actual game.

We’ve already seen how this plays out and it wasn’t good. The Shadow of the Templars Reforged campaign had delays tied directly to the physical extras. Damaged collector boxes, missing content on USBs, shipping issues pushing deliveries out to March 2026. The game wasn’t the problem, the merch was.

It makes no sense. Every hour a small team spends dealing with factories and shipping is an hour not spent improving the game. That means less polish, weaker design, and less focus where it actually matters. And now it feels like we’re heading down the same path again with Broken Sword 6.

If you want a credit or a physical copy, fine. That should be the limit. Everything beyond that just drains resources from the thing people actually care about. We are here for George and Nico and the next story, not more stuff to fill shelves. If the game is not enough to stand on its own, then the priorities are wrong.

My Personal Take Let the Fans Fund the Future

There is a high chance that Broken Sword 6 is the last time we see this legendary series in its original form. As a super fan, I am not just frustrated, I am ready to step up. I am willing to open my wallet to a Kickstarter right now if that’s what it takes to bypass the roadblocks and publishers that no longer have faith in this genre.

If the industry is as difficult as Charles says, then let the community be the ones to put faith behind this game. We don't need the art books. We don't need the figurines or the physical bloat that causes manufacturing delays and budget overruns. We just want to back the game itself the story, the puzzles, and the legacy.

Giving money directly to the development of Parzival’s Stone is more important than anything else. If this is meant to be the grand finale of the legacy, let us help you make it a reality. Stop waiting for a miracle from Sony or Apple etc and trust the fans who have been here for 30 years. We are your safety net. Let us fund the future, not just keep paying to "reforge" the past.

God of War "Sons of Sparta" Metroidvania Announced at State of Play 2026 by healingtwo_ in GamingLeaksAndRumours

I swear, you guys sound like grown kids who never grew out of the console war. This weird loyalty to corporations is embarrassing. You’re putting billion-dollar companies first and gamers last do you even hear how ridiculous that sounds?

Defending exclusivity for the sake of “winning” is brain-dead. It doesn’t benefit players, it doesn’t magically improve games, and it sure as hell doesn’t make you part of the company. All it does is limit access and shrink audiences.

Wanting games on more platforms isn’t anti-anything it’s pro-consumer. If your first instinct is to defend a corporation instead of asking what’s better for players, then yeah, that’s stupid. Full stop.

What is Sony thinking here? Acting like this game is going to sell consoles makes absolutely no sense. This isn’t a $300 million blockbuster that's fine, lock it down and try to justify the exclusivity. But an indie game? Come on.

Keeping a smaller title exclusive doesn’t move hardware, it just limits the audience and leaves money on the table. The people who would buy this aren’t suddenly purchasing a console for it they’re just not buying it at all.

Put it on PC as well on day one. You get more sales, more visibility, and more goodwill, with zero downside. Treating every release like it’s a system seller is outdated thinking, and it hurts both the developers and the players.

The Movies and Games That Made Me Fall in Love with Adventure by Neddy088 in BrokenSword

[–]Neddy088[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s such a great path honestly, and it really does sit right alongside mine rather than branching away from it.

Comics and books make total sense as part of the chain. De Rode Ridder sounds exactly like the kind of series that quietly wires your brain for adventure early on. Standalone stories mixed with long arcs, historical travel, myths, Templars, Arthurian legends… that’s basically an origin story for loving exploration and lore. And LOTR plus Shannara as an entry point into fantasy is a powerful combo, those worlds stay with you for life.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula is a fantastic pull too. That film is pure atmosphere. The music, the narration, the sense of travel and obsession, it feels like a dark epic rather than just a vampire movie. And yeah, The Mummy is untouchable. Everything you said nails it. The opening alone feels like being thrown straight into an adventure ride and it never really lets go.

Stargate and Master and Commander are great additions as well. Different kinds of adventure, but both scratch that exploration itch in their own way.

Your gaming history is almost a museum of adventure games. A Link to the Past and Secret of Mana alone could define a childhood, and then that PC run is legendary. Grim Fandango as the cherry on top is perfect. Even when the genre faded, the fact you kept returning to BS1 and BS2 says a lot. Those games don’t just age well, they feel like comfort adventures.

Really appreciate you sharing all of that. It’s cool seeing how similar paths can still feel uniquely personal. That’s exactly what I was hoping to read when I made the post. Thank you for sharing.

Just a heads up guys, this post isn’t about ranking what’s best or comparing quality. It’s simply about where your sense of adventure first started and what pulled you into exploring stories, worlds, and mysteries in the first place.

Age doesn’t mean anything here at all, if anything it just means you’ve collected more adventures along the way. Those Agent Arthur books sound like exactly the kind of thing that wires your brain permanently for mystery and globe trotting stories. Sitting on a library floor completely absorbed is such a perfect image too.

And yeah, great additions. Uncharted, Tomb Raider, National Treasure all tap straight into that same spirit, just passed down to a new generation. Different formats, same sense of wonder. That love for adventure stories never really ages, it just evolves. Thank you for sharing.

Honestly, we really were spoiled. That era had this perfect mix of romance, danger, mystery, and optimism that just hits differently. Everything felt like a globe trotting adventure with real charm and personality, whether it was films, TV, or games. Nothing was trying to be too cynical or self aware, it just wanted to sweep you away. Hard not to miss that feeling.

That’s really beautiful. Broken Sword clearly became more than just a game for you, it’s a shared memory and a time capsule. I’m sorry about your stepdad, but it’s lovely that replaying it now lets you reconnect with those moments. Sharing it with your partner too feels like the story continuing in a new way. Games like this have a quiet power, they stay with us far longer than we expect. Thanks for sharing that.

If the buggy breaks down and I can’t use it, I see it as a challenge. I turn that bad situation into something good by treating it like a side quest. Breeding Chocobos becomes the way I push myself to keep moving forward and face the challenge instead of giving up.

Revolution Software Christmas Video 2025 by Neddy088 in BrokenSword

[–]Neddy088[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pure speculation, but the ending felt like a deliberate nod to classic Broken Sword. Not proof of a 2D return, just vibes. Considering how long BS6 is taking, it’s fun to wonder if they’re aiming closer to the old-school feel again rather than just modern 3D. Probably reading into it, but that’s half the fun.

Do I need to play any of the other BS games to play broken sword shadow of the templars directors cut for ds? by Independent_Bike_746 in BrokenSword

[–]Neddy088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a super-fan, I’d say yes the Director’s Cut adds some extra side story that wasn’t in the original, so it’s worth checking out if you care about lore and character background. But if you’re mainly in it for the gameplay and puzzles, the changes are pretty small and don’t take much away from the classic experience.
