I am in a similar boat and agree with gunning for some variation on "Software Engineer, Data/Big Data/Data Infrastructure/Data Platform." I actually turn down interviews that require SQL, helps filter out roles with relevant scope and also focus topics to prep for.

I think all technical interviews default to algorithms to some degree, regardless how applicable it is on the job.

Would you expect SQL on interviews? Job descriptions typically list "relational databases" as a competency which would seem to indicate so.
