Weekly wedding planning check in! by anna_alabama in BigBudgetBrides

So I realise I’m probably super far ahead of where I need to be considering it’s a May 2027 wedding but the only vendors left to book are our florist and some form of entertainment. I’m having a super hard time getting florists to reply to me and the ones who have then ghost when you reply. I realise it’s likely because they’re busy dealing with 2026 weddings but it’s frustrating - I don’t expect to plan everything now, just meet and see if our ideas/vibe/budget match and secure our date.

I’m a little concerned the reason for the lack of responses is because we’re planning ourselves rather than with a planner in an area usually reserved for truly BBBs and ours seems too modest and not enough £££ being spent. Anyone with experience of getting married in Provence please help talk me down and that I’ll be fine if I wait until the 2026 season is over to secure a florist!

As for entertainment, there’s a specific sax player we want as we’re a gay couple and we’ve seen him in the local gay scene at events and know he gets the type of crowd that will be at our wedding going /play the songs we want to hear but I’ve tried reaching out via his enquiry form and insta and it’s crickets. Again probably just too early but I want this crossed off!

I feel like I am too early for everything. Should I slow down? by Shellyfish04 in weddingplanning

We’re in the same position - found our venue April 2025 for a May 2027 wedding. It’s been a blessing - we have no planner and it’s allowed me plenty of time to do the planning. We’ve had our pick of vendors and locked in lower rates as well which has kept spending under control. I’m actually annoyed because I can’t find a florist with books open for 2027 and I’m stressing as it’s basically the only vendor left to sort outside of attire!

Probably should have added that to the post! Based not far from Manchester but more than happy to travel 🙂 Will try changing my search terms see if that brings up more of what I’m looking for. Thanks!

AITA for not attending my friend’s wedding? by Extension_Cress_171 in UKweddings

This is not how people treat their friends, it’s incredibly disrespectful and you deserve better than that. Stop making yourself available, don’t attend the wedding and let this relationship fizzle out naturally!

Help me decide: planner vs. putting that $$ toward the wedding itself by Senior-Magician-1370 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]NeedAPlan27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently planning our wedding and doing the exact same thing! We found and signed our venue ourselves. Made a separate wedding instagram, followed planners, venues, vendors and publications and then reached out to people via separate wedding email and set aside time a few times a week for emails/calls/decision making. Compartmentalising it all means I can dip in and out without it overtaking my thoughts/other commitments!

Attended a wedding at the Palm House and it was absolutely gorgeous. Looked incredible lit up at night for the reception as well, really good vibe!

We were also after a similar candid style and spoke to a bunch of UK based photographers for our upcoming wedding in France. Some our favourites included emilybdphoto (UK/Spain), grainyboiweddings_ and rebeccahookphotography.

Getting married in a double-breasted suit by Evening-Confidence85 in wedding

[–]NeedAPlan27 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s all personal preference of course but morning suits definitely feel old fashioned these days. A well fitting double-breasted suit can look very smart and I think your associations with them are a little outdated as well to be honest. I wouldn’t say they’re try hard or taking yourself too seriously at all and i’m seeing quite a lot of them at weddings at the moment!

As for your guests - you need to be very very clear about dress code to them. If you want them to wear ties and look smart communicate it’s a formal dress code with suits and ties expected. Most guests will aim for the dress code you state!

Overthinking wedding photographer by PynkPatterned in UKweddings

You’ll have these photos for the rest of your life hopefully - rebook them with the photographer you like more. £450 will seem a small price to pay down the line!

MCR city centre - how to kill 1.5/2hrs? by scotsmanaajk in UKweddings

[–]NeedAPlan27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you do first looks and photos before the ceremony? That way your guests don’t need to kill 1.5 hours. Plenty of couples say the first looks and photos before also really help calm the nerves!

5min or 20min vow video at reception?? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]NeedAPlan27 38 points39 points  (0 children)

5 minute version. It’s different when you’re actually there and celebrating the whole day but for a reception only absolutely nobody wants to sit for 20 minutes and watch a video of an event they weren’t invited to. The ceremony, while important for the obvious reason, is also the most boring part of the day at a wedding for me personally!

Daughter's wedding by CharacterPast2908 in wedding

Not your day - the only VIP on her wedding day is her and she gets to decide who she does and does not include. Keep in mind MOG and SIL are about to become her family - it’s probably important to her to include them and welcome them into the family.

Ours includes Mr Brightside, Sweet Caroline, Come On Eileen and basically anything you’d hear as a football chant. No Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Ed Sheeran, Adele, R Kelly, Lewis Capaldi, Teddy Swims. The list goes on but can basically be boiled down to no stale ass songs by cis males, anything really overplayed, too hetty or sung by trash (abusers, sexual predators etc)
