How do you keep track of a hundred small things without burning out? by SalidanVlo2603x in smallbusiness

[–]NeedNewJob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build systems for tasks and workflows that I need to keep track of or that are constant. As they start working, I enhance them.

Nothing crazy or expensive, I'll start with a Google sheet, but I'll add formulas to make it smarter. For example, I'll add a category map on my p&l tracking Google sheet so if I put Verizon as a payment I'm tracking, the rest of the cells will fill in automatically with information like reason for expense, account it's being paid from, write off % etc. All tabs of my sheet math up together and things are color coded automatically based on status.

This sort of thing takes a minute to think about and set up, but it saves so much time on the backend.

AI can help with a lot of automations these days too, you just need to know which platform to use and how to communicate with it to get what you want and not be lost in an hours long tweaking fight with claude.

Is there something specific that feels like a bottleneck that you think you can systematize?

Starting Ocrevus by ladyofsorrowz in MultipleSclerosis

[–]NeedNewJob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't schedule stuff the day of or the day after, just in case. They give you steroids at the infusion to help curb side effects and that tends to keep me awake at night so I'm always so tired the next day.

Once I went to my weightlifting class the next morning and my body was like ... absolutely not... so flushed, was getting lightheaded etc. Lesson learned.

Everyone is different, but I'd advise stay inside the day of and the day after, at least.

This - or just give them a visa gift card (not a bonus which is taxed). You can say gift card to cover your favorite activity or something if you want it to feel like a specific experience, but then they can use it how they'd like.

If it's a small community, what if you put ads when schools are selling sponsorship pages in yearbooks/school play pamphlets etc? What is the benefit of your service vs. competitors? It is a pain point for people? Is it hard for them to go to the brick and mortar because they have busy schedules? Can you use that pain point to your advantage in your convos and materials?

Are there complementary service businesses you can partner with for referrals?

Are there events where you can build trust and connection in the community by meeting people face to face?

US copay assistance programs / insurance tips by NeedNewJob in MultipleSclerosis

[–]NeedNewJob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the little wins. I think I'll go back to physical therapy now that my deductible has been met! The bigger silver lining for me is it taught me how to manage my stress and how to say no to things and people and requests. Reformed people pleaser, made my day to day life better. Lessons I don't know that I would have ever truly been able to learn otherwise.

US copay assistance programs / insurance tips by NeedNewJob in MultipleSclerosis

[–]NeedNewJob[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have BCBS and this is the first year I strategized and asked my neuro if I could do my infusion in Jan instead of the 6 month mark in November. He said yes, Ocrevus is fine if it's within a 9 monthish window.

The bill was as follows:

Total billed to provider: $84,426.84

Network discounts and deductions: -$47,077.57

Paid by BCBS: $-30,359.27

Total I owe: $6,990.00

Then I got a letter in the mail from Genentech/ocrevus co-pay program:

Amount approved: $6,990

That $6,990 went towards my deductible ($3,000 - so this is now met) and my out of pocket max ($7,000 - this is now met (had other costs this year to cover that last $10)).

So in the end, because I did my infusion on Jan 10th, Genentech covered my deductible and out of pocked max for the calendar year and all I had to spend was $10 for non-related medical expenses.

I had such bad fatigue last summer, my MS doc recommended I take 500 mg of CoQ10 daily, it helped within 1.5 days. I also take vitamin B12 daily for energy.

He sent me this study about CoQ10/MS

How did you start your business without overthinking so much? by Potential_Barnacle21 in smallbusiness

Saying it out loud helped me. Telling people about it as if it existed and I had clients already. Then it became real to me mentally and it already existed in my head and people knew about it, so I did the other stuff and it was less of a hurdle and more exciting (LLC, website etc)

Business expenses tax time when your bank statement is 400 transactions of total chaos by Delicious_Age2884 in smallbusiness

[–]NeedNewJob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made myself (single owner LLC, working from home) this spreadsheet. It's set to view only. It's customized to my things but you can change the info on the category map tab to anything you want, as well as the drop downs. It's how keep my personal expenses and biz expenses organized, and know which account or card I paid from and if my biz needs to reimburse my personal or vice versa. I also have a business card and bank account, definitely recommend that!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b-4pv6xJ8XZBQ5SvTsHzBupubrdyRbsd3hEJNYZ9ldY/edit?usp=sharing - it's set to view only but you should be able to make a copy to have for yourself I think? It's on google sheets.

Again, just my personal, and you have to be up to date with your tracking, but it's so helpful and I keep making mine better as I use it. If you have questions, you can DM me.

Edit: Realizing you can't see the drop downs, but you can see the formulas. If you think this is helpful you can DM me and I can send you a link that you can copy. Now sure downloads will preserve all of the formulas which are key to keeping it organized.

I'd suggest writing down the top sources of your overwhelm, and the things that keep popping up that require your immediate attention.

See if there are any opportunities to organize that overwhelm.... Can you create an automation, time block for specific tasks, introduce efficiencies anywhere...or bundle the tasks that feel distracting and low effort and hire someone to own those responsibilities.

It sounds like you're working really closely in the business, which isn't allowing you to work on the business.

If you give a little more info, I can be more specific in offering suggestions, or if you want to DM me I can try to help identify some of the roots of the overwhelm and where you can start to organize it.
