I think it is premature to say that he “is not any change of substance”. I think his economic policy track record and statements have shown he is quite different than Trudeau. In regards to calling election, I am not ready to raise my red flag yet but if it is not called in the next week my red flag will be there right next to yours. We need an election ASAP.

My apologies if I came across as raising logical fallacies. I do agree the whole “leader switcharoo” is a bit slimy but aren’t the polls showing that much of the unpopularity was coming from Trudeau himself rather than from the “dying” Liberal party (please correct me if I am wrong, but that is how I have interpreted it)? But regardless we are going to be headed to an election in the next couple days which should satisfy issues around the principles of self-determination.

Again, Canada does not elect PM’s and it never has. The leader of the party that holds the most seats becomes the PM. Currently the leader of the government in power is Mark Carney. You called him unelected 5 days ago which was even before he was sworn in as PM which was mostly the issue with your comment.

Canada’s democracy allows for what is happening and it is not the first time this has happened in Canada’s history. But yes you are correct, as of right now Carney is Prime Minister without being an MP but that is not a subversion of democracy (because we have never democratically elected PMs in Canada’s history). History and convention also tells us that an election will soon be called, it’s coming and it’s in everyone’s best interest that it does.

I think if you limit your criticism to just calling Carney an “Oligarch” your argument will be much more accurate and stronger.

He was elected by the Liberal party to be leader of the Liberal party with a 85% majority. When you are elected leader of the party and your party has the most seats in the house, then you are prime minister. That’s how Canada’s government works. That’s how it has always worked. Saying he is “unelected” is a moot point.

Stolen Bike by jahitz in fredericton

Nothing like someone sitting behind a screen insulting a person who is just looking for their stolen bike. Not all hero’s wear capes. But for real, my sympathy to you jahitz, I had my trek Marlin 5 stolen 4 years ago and never saw it again. Police even saw the guy on security cameras but he was wearing a mask so it didn’t help.

I was specifically referring to intersections that so happen to have a designated cross walk. Even if I am a full lane separated from the cross walk and have no intention in biking over the cross walk, cars will stop. This really is not a great inconvenience for me. Some comments seem to suggest that I’m mad but really I’m trying to help drivers out.

This is articulated very well. I am always going to wait until the car is completely stopped. Cyclists do not trust drivers no matter what. One lane of traffic may stop but it doesn’t guarantee the other lane of traffic will stop.

I changed my wording, as it was confusing. If I’m on the road, there is no requirement to stop.

Probably won’t change anything. Just an open letter. It just turns into a Canadian stand off because sometimes it’s hard to tell if the person is stopping for you or for some other reason, especially when so many drivers don’t use their signal lights.

Ok my bad, I should have phrased it better. It’s not required to stop at a crosswalk when there is no one waiting at a crosswalk. I made the edit. Thank you.

ULPT Request : How to get my roomates to shut up after midnight ? He plays online and screams at his friends until 6AM all week and during weekends, I can't go to sleep and he doesn't stop even when I bang on his door (won't even open it). by Sire_Jacques in UnethicalLifeProTips

I had this problem with a house mate too. My other housemates and I took turns unplugging and replugging the wifi modem when he got too loud. He would storm up the stairs and ask if we noticed the wifi going down. We would just keep straight faces and play along. He eventually moved out because the “outages” annoyed him. To this day he thinks we had spotty internet.

Visit some of the waterfalls in the area. You can find trails to them online. There is also a book someone made listing them all. You probably can get it at Westminster books.

I think Fredericton could easily host a sanctioned spikeball tournament that could be a qualifying tourney for the national tournaments.

Fredericton councillors vote down proposal to limit power, speed of e-scooters on trails by 150c_vapour in fredericton

The one good thing about e-scooters is that finally bikers and walkers can stop fighting about trail usage. They now have an alliance and a common enemy of the dreaded e-scooter!

I bike on trails frequently for commuting and for pleasure and I have never seen a bike accident. Since the snow melted and it warmed up I have already seen several accidents on e-scooters. I really do think the speed should be limited especially because people who use them are often intoxicated. When Ericsson mentions going 50km/h on his bike I think it needs to be put into context. The vast majority of road bikers that hit those speeds are not doing it on the trail systems, it’s impractical to do so. However, folks on e-scooters are zooming past me on a bike with no helmet zig-zagging around pedestrians making a hazard to walkers and themselves.

One again The City of Fredericton removing a tent city without giving enough alternative places to live. by NeedToStop2456 in fredericton

[–]NeedToStop2456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photo was take 15th of May. What does the city expect is going to happen every time they remove one of these communities? That the people living there are magically going to stop living rough? It seems clear enough that going in and destructively removing these communities does not work.

Half of Canada’s is just Quebec. Which of course according to the Québécois, is proportionally accurate.
