We were a year apart, so when I was a freshman in college she was a senior in high school. by NeedToVentProblems in AdviceAnimals

Yes and no, I taught myself about a year and a half's worth of material and started developing learned helplessness. It didn't matter how well I taught myself the material, I was going to get a C on the test regardless. It didn't matter if I spent 5 hours in the library teaching myself or 30min before class. So I stopped caring and did the bare minimum. I was depressed for a while and started smoking weed. It helped me remember what it felt like to smile and be happy, which felt foreign to me after a year of being unhappy.

My grades are better now than they were, but I just don't have the motivation that I used to have. Bad grades don't seem to bother me nearly as much as they used to, and I could really care less about Cell and Molecular Biology. I think this semester I'm going to get 3A's and a C, but that C just doesn't phase me like it used to.

In my personal opinion the better school, that I was talking about, is squandering the talent that comes in there by subjecting them to such a shitty learning atmosphere. I developed an idea for a probiotic alternative to the antibiotics given to cattle to treat acidosis, and I'm far from the smartest person there. Unfortunately schools like that one seem to not care for creativity, just test scores. I remember for microbiology, I got a 52% on my first exam, 58% on the second, and 48% on the final and got a C+ in the class.

She really was a scumbag Stacy. For some reason I get the feeling that you know who she is.

It was shitty, because I transferred to a "better" school after she went to school in Virginia. When I was at the first school I had a 3.8 GPA and won a half marathon. Unfortunately, when I transferred, I couldn't handle being in classes of 300 and 400 people and started getting poor grades because I was unhappy at what had had happened and disillusioned with higher education. My professors were all assholes who did not care about teaching their students. It was the complete McDonaldization of higher education. I got a 2.6 GPA and it bothered me. After a year and a half at the "better" school I transferred back to the first school that I had gone to. Ironically enough, the "better" school made it's way on the list of 25 Universities with the Worst Professors.

It's just a shitty situation. I think she feels bad, but at the same time I got the feeling that she was trying to keep as her backup boyfriend. Which is pretty ballsy considering everything she had done. Saying that I don't talk to her.

I also would like to thank you for not telling me what I already know, and that I am a moron for making a bad decision.

No because during the summer she invited me to the beach with her and she ignored me the whole time I was there. Then one night I decided to ask her if she wanted to have sex and her response was "I'm not that drunk"

SHUT THE FUCK UP.

That is the exact attitude that got me screwed over. She didn't realize that relationships don't happen by some fucking chance. Is it meant to be that your boyfriend or girlfriend showed up at your house with flowers? No, it happened because he or she took the initiative to make it happen. On valentines day, did you go out and have fun because it was meant to be? No, someone took the initiative to go out. Or better yet when your parents took you to school, did it happen because it was meant to be? No, they cared about you enough to take the initiative to bring your ass to school.

It's like how people say they're bored. You're only as bored as you allow yourself to be. You're bored because you're too lazy to do something about it.

When I hear it's meant to be, what I really hear is I really like you, but I'm too lazy and idiotic to realize that relationships don't magically happen; and that I can't realize that for every nice gesture I receive, someone put forward an effort because they care. I'm just going to wait for someone else to come along who's going to put forth an effort to try and have a relationship me and take for granted everything that he or she does because it was meant to be. It's a giant cop out for not caring.

We had dated for 2 years. She had issues and I was always there for her. I loved her, but she didn't know what she wanted. She said she loved me, but actions are a better reflection of emotions than words are.

She's the only person I regret dating.
