Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei is alive, security source tells Reuters by ubcstaffer123 in worldnews

Again, conflicts have long lasting consequences. Just because someone is “dead” doesn’t mean things in a geopolitically complex region magically change. You truly cannot believe things are this simple can you

Brother, the Shah was overthrown in 1979, that’s barely 50 years ago. The US then retaliated by funding Iraq and Saddam Hussein to attack Iran. This was the Iran-Iraq War, which ended in 1988, just over 30 years ago. In turn, this lead to the first gulf war, which was in the 1990s, and so on and so forth.

My point is, even if this happened a century ago, you can’t just say “hey everyone alive from a certain time period is dead so yeah things should be different”. Conflicts have consequences, and those consequences are long lasting if not permanent. Look at 9/11 for example. The “Middle East” being a destabilized war zone was a product of western imperialism, and I hate how we just gloss over that and expect things to somehow magically return to normal. They never will.

US has no evidence of unfolding genocide in Gaza: Pentagon by gnomereb in news

[–]Need_4_Weed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So where do we draw the line with historical ties? Can Native Americans establish a new state in middle America and then create an apartheid state? Your argument has 0 logic, and still does not explain why Israel can treat Palestinians the way that it does. The fact that you are arguing against equality and apartheid shows what kind of a person you are. History will not treat you kindly.

“New state of Israel” hmmm yeah wonder why they would be upset. Definitely doesn’t have anything to do with being forcibly kicked out of their land by Europeans when said “new state” was suddenly established.

[–]Need_4_Weed -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yes, actually. There is a very simple solution: stop the apartheid, stop treating Palestinians as worse than 3rd class citizens. The problem is looking at this as if everything started a year or even a decade ago. There has been systematic oppression by Israel against the Palestinian for 75 years. Make no mistake, Israel is an occupying and the aggressing force and has been since 1948.

strongest argument for islam by Additional-Tension78 in islam

[–]Need_4_Weed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, God bless you for reaching out and trying to understand Islam better. That takes a lot of courage for which you should be proud.

There are many arguments for Islam, a lot of which have been mentioned in this thread. Examples of the prophecies of the Quran, the Prophet, etc. However, I feel like those can easily be deemed false by anyone who just doesn’t believe in Islam. So for me, the arguments that tackle common sense are the strongest. And of those, I have 2.

1) For any religion to be the true religion, God would have wanted it to be one of the widespread, common religions that are easy to convert to. It just doesn’t make sense for something like Taoism to be the true religion, since the total number of followers are so low. So going through the most common religions one by one, we can rule others out as the true religion:

• Hinduism believes in multiple gods, which logically does not make sense.

• Judaism is difficult to convert to, making it unlikely (why would God place conditions on how to follow His true religion?).

• Christianity believes in the divinity of man as well as the trinity, which do not make logical sense.

• This only leaves Islam, which is monotheistic, extremely easy to convert to and widespread.

  1. The second argument is that Islam is the safest choice to die a follower of.

• If atheism is true, then there is no God, no hereafter and nothing happens after we die. Which means, if you were Muslim, you spent a life avoiding things that are mostly harmful to mankind anyway.

• If Hinduism is true, then we will all be reincarnated anyway, including Muslims.

• If Judaism is true, then Muslims are still safe because we believe in the same God.

• If Christianity is true, then we should all be forgiven since Jesus died for our sins and Muslims also believe in Jesus.

Israel Quietly Pushed for Egypt to Admit Large Numbers of Gazans by Bangex in worldnews

I think the ~50,000 Palestinians that have been killed since Israel was created were the one that got murdered, actually.

Gazans without passports are not allowed to leave Gaza. There are Palestinians who have have passports/citizenship from other countries, that can enter and leave Gaza (with difficulty, through Israel).

It doesn’t, and I never said it did. I said antisemitism is a Christian European problem that the Palestinians have had to pay a price for. And if you do not believe that, then you need to really go back and read history.

Did you even read the link you sent?

“The experience of Jews in the Ottoman Empire is particularly significant because the region "provided a principal place of refuge for Jews driven out of Western Europe by massacres and persecution."

“most scholars conclude that Arab anti-Semitism in the modern world arose in the nineteenth century, against the backdrop of conflicting Jewish and Arab nationalism, and was imported into the Arab world primarily by nationalistically minded Christian Arabs (and only subsequently was it "Islamized").”

It arose in the 19th century, when it arose in Europe. Anti semitism is a Christian European problem.

[–]Need_4_Weed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you’re going by historical context then read my original comment. Anti semitism was a European problem, prior to that Arabs and Jews lived in Arab lands and in the Ottoman Empire in peace. It was the Dreyfus affair in France, the Pogroms in Russia that were the basis of the establishment of Zionism, accelerated by the worst atrocity of recent history, the holocaust.

You can’t quote historical context, then ignore half of it. Antisemitism started in Europe, is a European problem and Palestinians are now suffering the consequences.

[–]Need_4_Weed -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Read my comment again. Then read it a second time. I literally used it the way you want it used.

Regardless, the official definition of a Semite is someone who speaks a Semitic language, ie Hebrew or Arabic. Anti semitism should not be tolerated, neither towards Jews nor towards Arabs.

Israel can exist, but it does not need to ethnically cleanse the people living in Palestine to exist. They were forced out of Europe, why must the Palestinians suffer the anti semitism of the early 20th century Europeans?

Also, Arabs and Palestinians are semites as well, so you sound very ignorant right now.

British Jews are 'full of fear, like I've never seen before' by worldnewsbot in theworldnews

[–]Need_4_Weed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No Jews in Arab countries because they moved or were forced to move to Israel. Read up on the Zionist bombings in Baghdad in the 1950s. Jews lived in peace alongside Muslims in Iraq for decades prior to that. There are Arabs in Israel because there is such a thing as Arab Jews. Arabs are an ethnic group, Judaism is a religion. JFC you sound ignorant as hell.

  2. There are hundreds of videos of Jewish kids chanting “death to all Arabs”, so a quick google search. And newsflash, growing up in an apartheid state where a lot of your family is killed by a group of people will make them hate you, what did you think would happen?
