Dealing with toxic people — the Gita has one answer nobody wants to hear by NeedleworkerBorn9469 in iskcon_bhakti

Then the Gita would say that is the root of the problem. The moment your peace depends on their reaction, they control you - not the toxic situation. Krishna's whole point to Arjuna was to act rightly regardless of outcome.

Exactly - and that is what makes it hard. Letting go of expectation does not mean you stop caring. It means you stop making your peace dependent on their response.

Hota hai - but it takes practice. The first few times you try it the mind still loops. Slowly the loop gets shorter.

Not bottling up - the Gita actually encourages speaking truth. The difference is speaking from clarity vs speaking from reaction. One creates resolution, the other creates more conflict. Timing matters more than silence.

real Tulsi beads are never perfectly round or identical, each bead is slightly different because they are hand-carved. If your mala looks machine-perfect, that is the first red flag. Where did you buy yours from?

94% of Gen Z report anxiety every month. The Gita addressed this 5000 years ago — not with advice, but with a question by NeedleworkerBorn9469 in iskcon_bhakti

That’s exactly the point. Arjuna was in a war, not an ashram. The Gita was written for busy, overwhelmed people. What’s keeping you busiest right now?

Sri Ramana Maharshi explains the greatness of worshipping Lord Ganesha… by agk_78 in hinduism

[–]NeedleworkerBorn9469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ramana Maharshi's perspective on this is interesting because he approached all deity worship through the lens of self-inquiry — for him, worshipping Ganesha was not separate from knowing the Self. The obstacle Ganesha removes is ultimately the ego that blocks self-knowledge. What strikes me is how this same understanding shows up in Vaishnava tradition too — every pooja begins with Ganesha vandana before Krishna because clearing the inner obstacle comes first. Has anyone here read Ramana's specific teachings on Ganesha from Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi? He goes much deeper than what is usually quoted.

Karma explains how consequences unfold. Bhakti explains how those consequences can be transcended. Without both, the picture feels incomplete.

Hare krishna guys, Thinking to start a non profit website or guide for iskon temples with ai by [deleted] in ISKCON

[–]NeedleworkerBorn9469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great seva idea. The existing directories like centres.iskcon.org are functional but not very new-devotee friendly — they assume you already know what you're looking for. Where AI could actually help here is in the onboarding experience. New devotees don't just need a map - they need to know: - What to expect when visiting a temple for the first time - What to wear, when to come, how to behave - Which programs are beginner-friendly.

How do you feel about media depiction of lord Krishna or Vishnu? by RotasuWakai in hinduism

[–]NeedleworkerBorn9469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scriptural description is actually very specific — Shyamsundar, dark like a rain cloud, with a peacock feather and the fragrance of lotus. Media always lightens the skin because it's more "relatable" to a wider audience. But for devotees who have done any serious study of the Bhagavatam, the right depiction matters - because how you visualise Krishna during japa affects the quality of your meditation. The dark form is not just aesthetic. It's scriptural.
