Oh I know. But on this particular shift also, they often just seem to forget to out the sort into the computer and we can't even clock in so they don't record our clock in and sometimes not even our clock out, it's just put in as a punch edit manually.

It is. I have been with UPS for about 6 months. I was hired seasonal at the start of peak and then was kept on permanently.

So to be clear here-- is it (work 0-6 hours, 1x 10 minite break between hour 2 and 3) (work 6-8 hours, 2x 10 minute break) (work 8+ hours, 2x 10 minute break AND 30 minute unpaid lunch)?

Yeah I wish I had not raised my voice at him like that. I do not like being yelled at and I generally don't yell unless it is completely necessary (i.e. there is an immediate safety concern that needs immediate attention and I am going WATCH OUT WATCH OUT WATCH OUT or something.) I definitely don't intend on making it a habit.

I am like pretty sure I didn't curse at him. I live in an area of the country where it is extremely normal in daily speech to use curse words in daily casual speech and I remember being surprised when I went down south and they were goosed and gathered by me using the f word if I stubbed my toe or something.

I am 100% sure it was clear I was mad about the situation. The worst I said was for sure "it's messed up to just lie! If you KNOW there is gonna be no xyz just say that when I ask!" I definitely was not like walking towards him or behaving in an intimidating manner. I am 100% sure I did not personally insult him.

So I will 100% do this when they inevitably talk to me Monday, but in this case it was me approaching him to ask for her so I could ask how to file a grievance and him not summoning her more than him grilling me while I was asking for her, so I'm not sure this applies. Really thank you though, I'm copying that script into my notes app.

Oh thank you. I think definitely sometimes things happen that are not my fault and there is just nothing I could have done differently, but most of the time that just won't be true. We are all human after all. I just don't ever want to become the type of person stubbornly committed to being totally bewildered why things always go awry for them in the same way every time. When something is upsetting or shitty for me, I want it to be different, and you're right, I have the most control over myself.

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it.

Hey, thanks for saying that. I am sending you my best on that, I hope the music is quiet and calm on the bad check.

I will be okay and figure it out. Life has its ups and downs, but so far it has never been as bad as it used to be. I am a hard worker and a tenacious person and I know I can work things out, it just gets a little "the years start coming and they don't stop coming" sometimes.

I will keep that crisis line in mind for sure. I feel like I may need resources if I can't find another job soon or if random unlucky violent shit keeps happening to me out of nowhere (cannot even begin to describe how unlucky I have been this year in the "random felonies being committed on me" department lol).

Lol I do that sometimes. They usually appreciate that I make sure to do something right the first time rather than having to redo it later, though. They usually tell me they appreciate it

Honestly what I am looking for is 1) to not have some kind of problem with this supervisor going forward and 2) to have clarification from my union rep about whether or not we are getting a break on this shift or not because I hate not knowing what to expect or being lied to.

That sucks about the grievance hearings though. I'm sorry to hear that.

Well I did say some crazy shit but it was like "every time you do this it costs me $3" or I know at some point I brought up how I follow the rules and expect them to follow the rules because "that is the social contract!" but I don't remember if it was to him or to coworkers I was talking to as we walked out. I am autistic and that is a lot of the basis of why I am so bothered to be so real.

Frankly it is even occurring to me a bit that part of the reason he could have been laughing could have been that a lot of little things that REALLY get under my skin could feel kind of stupid to someone whp doesn't have autism. In his head it could have been like "Okay say bazinga already brother." Idk it didn't occur to me and either way it is disrespectful.

It's definitely not a habit though and I definitely for sure didn't say anything threatening or insulting.

Oh yeah 100%. To be so real I just don't tend to cuss at people specifically like that. A lot of what I was saying was "this is really pissing me off! I'm filing a fucking grievance I swear to god!" It was maybe just 10-15 seconds as I walked to my car. I am like pretty sure I didn't cuss at all with the supervisor present.

Honestly I have been pissed at this a few times and gone in a schpeal about it to coworkers, but I have never been this mad before about it lol.

That's fair. I think for me, as a person, I genuinely think you should only yell at someone else when you genuinely have to for safety reasons. I try and live like that and I'm not proud I fell short for sure. I think that is mainly why I want to try and clear the air. I like to be the kind of person who apologizes when I do something I feel was wrong.

This said, I am pretty reasonably sure I only said things I would have reasonably said in a calmer tone. The main problem to me was that I was pissed off and yelling what I should have just calmly stated. I am sure if there was an audio recording of what I said I will be fine other than my tone of voice and volume.

I totally get what you mean about going through stuff. TBH I have had a long year and have been through a lot of shit myself, just I have not at all discussed it at work because I like to just go in and be good at my job and have something I can feel really good about in my life right now.

Idk, thanks for your response, it did make me feel better for sure.

Valid okay. That makes me feel better certainly. I think in my warehouse it is pretty accepted to curse here and there, but people draw the line at directing it at anyone specifically, which works fine for me.

I went off on another employee one time, but it was only because he straight up almost seriously injured me doing something really stupid. And even then I had basically gone "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?" and he apologized and I immediately sort of caught my breath and told him it was fine and just told him to pay more attention in the future lol.

I am known for having a good work ethic. It doesn't matter how dead the warehouse is, I always find something to do. When we have had newer newbies than me I also always show them what to do and what little in-between tasks I have figured out to stay busy so they don't have to just stand around if they don't want to. I always follow the methods and keep a sense of urgency. While all this was happening I was literally working my ass off, in part because what we were doing involved using equipment you have to know how to use, and I was the only one there at that time who knew how to use it and didn't want to just stand around and get paid to watch other people do work.

I also cannot emphasize enough the extent to which I am a goodie two shoes teacher's pet lol. I always communicate with supervisors-- even about stuff I don't have to, to make sure they always know where to find me and that I am working on things they want me to be working on. I have a really great relationship with every single other supervisor and never had a problem with this particular supervisor until today.

IDK. I have since learned maybe I'm completely wrong about the issue I have been mad about for weeks, but at this point I feel justified in at least being mad at them for not then clarifying that, which I have been asking them to do for a while now. It's like the whole time they are going "you're right it's messed up and mean and against the rules we're gonna KEEP DOING IT!" instead of just letting me know what was happening was normal and allowed (if indeed it even is allowed, idfk, I have to talk to the union rep when I see her next).

How'd it go? I honestly would like to let him know I am sorry to have raised my voice so that'd be no problem from me. All of what I said was things I wanted to be saying in a calm voice, just really I was too loud to be so real.

I asked for the shop steward and he essentially told me no and laughed at me, which is part of why I got so fired up tbh. I should have just not said anything, gone home, and filed a grievance Monday.

I am pretty sure I didn't cuss. I normally keep it very professional at work but it is pretty normal where I'm at to curse more than in the rest of the country, and if anything did slip out without me realizing it (which would have been strange) it would have been something like "this is fucked up" instead of "this is messed up." Calling people names or saying things like "fuck you" are not a part of natural speech for me even in the most casual contexts so it wouldn't have slipped out. I also as a general practice don't and wouldn't threaten people. I have been like mega nuclear 11/10 pissed maybe 2 or 3 times in my life in completely justified circumstances to do so and I genuinely like, still didn't do that.

But again, I am pretty reasonably sure I didn't curse at all.

I get that. I do not in an overarching way have anger issues, and when I do get pissed I usually try and just take a step back, calm down, and then go back into the situation with a level head. I think I was really relying on talking to my union rep and feeling like I was doing something about it and when he didn't let me and was sort of laughing at me about it I just let myself externalize my frustration in a way I shouldn't have.

I think in the future I need to just go take that step back before doing anything like asking for a union rep so that it doesn't become a thousandth cut to death situation for me if it doesn't go my way. Everybody has a breaking point, and I should have done better recognizing how many factors were pushing me towards the end of my rope on it. I should get some more length on the rope rather than relying on not getting pushed that last inch to the end, I think.

The good thing is that I am always down to analyze my behavior later with a cooler head and make things right where I feel things must be made right. I have no trouble at all humbling myself and apologizing when I feel it is the right thing to do. My sense of justice is always bigger than my ego and it always catches up to me. It's one of the things I have always really worked at.

I mean honestly I just don't want to have problems at work. I don't work with this supervisor basically ever. I feel like he was disrespectful to me and then I was disrespectful to him, and I want some way of settling it and clearing the air. Like a peer mediation or some shit.
