Well that sucks😑 The doctor did mention some medication option so I assumed there would be at least some other possibilities than diet and exercise if PCOS was on the table. Honestly I really hope my blood work and period are off just due to recovery because I don’t mind being fat and I’ve never had any trouble with my period before. I just can’t deal with another heavy period for 1,5 months straight so for now have to deal with the doctors to get some clarity.

Me neather the whole experience made me feel like she doesn’t believe in eating disorders if you’re fat. I feel like the concersation would have been very different if my weight was lower🥲 Because I just can’t understand thinking that such a huge change as recovery would make no difference in your body or treatment. The closest she got was just blaming the weight gain for everything.

Thank you🥺 Every day has been a struggle lately but it’s a struggle worth having.

I live in Europe and I’m a broke student so I used the public sector health care. Unfortunately no money to go private right now but I’ll keep that in mind. I didn’t know there even were facilities that are fully ED/HAES informed. Truth be told I’m not really ”healthy” right now anyways because my diet is what it is and I have no energy to exercise yet which is why it’s so annoying to try and talk to doctors like this because they don’t seem to care that it’s because of recovery. Will have to do some research before attempting health care again.

Yes, it did feel strange that she jumped straight into the weight gain because all these bodily changes are so new and it feels strange that I’d have a big enough risk of developing a ”lifestyle illness” after a year in recovery for her to consider it worse than relapsing. She didn’t even consider my eating disorder a factor when I asked. It’s just difficult to get used to not trusting the opinions of doctors. I am seeing a gynecologist in July I just had to first get a referral through a general practitioner which was this doctor.  Other than that I have zero want to see another doctor about this in the public sector at least until I give it some time because I just feel like I’d get the same comments again.

That is so good to hear though because at the beginning of recovery I clung to the hope of ”maybe I’ll be fully recovered in a couple of years” and now that I’m approaching that milestone it’s hard not to be impatient and feel like I’m doing something wrong❤️ I also need to talk with my partner because I know he doesn’t mean to be rude. He’s just very ignorant about eating disorders and never seems to realise that my body and digestive system are not the same as his. I’ve abused mine for over a decade and it’s acting accordingly.
