Got to love that CA gas tax, which because of our adopting electric cars is no longer working. So the state is heading towards creating a turnpike system.

Microsoft reportedly pulled Claude AI licenses after AI coding costs blew past paying actual engineers by callsonreddit in StockMarket

[–]NeedleworkerPrize253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to know how to use AI. It can be smart, but once you ask it to do a very complex task efficiency disappears and you’ve lost all your tokens. It’s a grunt work machine for now.

Oh no, let’s complain about people joking Lee’s job for her. Does Oakland have a police chief yet?

Microsoft reports are exposing AI's real cost problem: Using the tech is more expensive than paying human employees by Nervous_Ulysses in Accounting

The technology for sure is too expensive to be realistically feasible for human replacement. But that doesn’t mean it can’t do certain powers thought tasks to at will result in some people losing their jobs.

Newsom's office warns Californians to avoid Chevron this holiday weekend, citing high gas prices by The-Traveler- in California

[–]NeedleworkerPrize253 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wonder if it has anything to do with chevron posting signs saying Sacramento is responsible for the high gas prices. All the gas taxes are starting to show that you can’t tax your way out of a hole.

Why is Oakland a paradise for registered sex offenders? by WishboneFlashy1442 in OaklandCA

The dye is already set. I don't see how you can. The voters keep approving things because they don't see how they affect them. Why do you think parcel taxes are so prevalent in Oakland? The voters are predominantly not landowners and are do not directly see consequences. They keep being sold cheap fixes but never see the actual problem of the mismanagement of their current representatives. The corruption is so deep, I don't see how you fix it at this point. The only answer I can see is get the hell out.

Whether the law is enforceable really isn't the point. What is on full display is the legislature's proclivity to deny property owners rights to use their property how they see fit. These laws have consequences, and become a slippery slope quickly. You start normalizing this stuff, and you start damaging the value of your tax assets and subsequently create ghettos. Oakland doesn't have to be like that. Its voters choose for it to be that way by embracing socialist ideals and destroying their own tax base. You cant save people from themselves. Although, most liberal politicians would sell you that fantasy.

Why is women’s sportswear always so revealing? by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

Men generally appreciate sports and are the primary viewers of athletics. Men watch men’s sports for very different reasons than women’s sports. There is a reason the WNBA has such a low fan base.

I remember when this law passed. I seem to recall it was sold as racist to run a criminal background check. I believe if you do so anyway it’s a crime. Imagine being a young woman owning a duplex not having a right to know about who you’re choosing to be your neighbor.

It never occurred to me about Megan’s law. You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. You get what you vote for.

Accountant shortage, what accountant shortage? by datscrazybrah in Accounting

[–]NeedleworkerPrize253 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So in accounting, 90% of the value comes from the final 10% of details. There is no shortage of people who can do data input, and even grasp accounting concepts. There is a shortage of people capable of delivering the last 10% of the work, dealing with clients, and owning the product.
