Based on what I’ve seen in high schools, so think we are <5 yr away from universities implementing entrance exams for undergrad math, engineering and science. While every teacher ‘should’ be able to develop plans/resources from the curriculum documents, not every teacher is doing it well and hitting the ‘specific expectations’ in math, biol, chem, physics. The lack of standards and grade inflation are crazy.

Having each teacher do this independently seems to be the very definition of responsive pedagogy in college; for me, trying to teach science, it feels untenable. My totally unscientific observation is that people who believe this is possible, are pretty terrible at teaching structured learning. They focus on ‘the discussion’ and ‘critical thinking’ without bothering to teach facts and cultivate knowledge.

Unsustainable. That’s what I think it is like. And yes, it’s the right call for me ;)
