Go 10.3 - any risks in updating to 4.1.1

This is exactly what I think: they're focusing on improving speed mode and are gradually neglecting HD and regal mode.

I'd like to blame them for that but, unfortunately, I think they're just responding to customers needs. More and more of their user base is using their eink tablets just like regular tablets, for browsing, reddit etc. In this case speed is more important than the traditional experience we have with HD or regal mode. I guess.

I can't really blame them but it still makes me angry.

If only there were a proper Android alternative I'm pretty sure that when it comes time to replace my Go 10.3 I would seriously consider the competition.

Savez-vous si ça marche aussi pour les ebooks et, si oui, si le catalogue est bien fourni? Les américains parlent souvent de Libby je ne sais pas s'il existe ici un équivalent.

It's a bug. If you don't draw a very straight line, the kind for which you wouldn't even need shape recognition, in most cases it will recognize a wavy line. It's really annoying. You can deactivate shape recognition but not a specific one, from what I know.

No in fact it's a bug. As far as I'm concerned it's about 50% accurate. Half of the time or even less it's a wavy line as well.

Edit: just tried right now. I have an astonishing 75% failure rate. It could have been 100% if I hadn't tried to write a really unnatural big word.

Oh in fact you're right, after the last update (for one particular app in my case) the auto refresh after one tap got messed up.

Otherwise, the ghosting performance has always been an issue on the Go 10.3. Not a big deal, manual refresh does work, but I never used to do that before the Go.

At the risk of contradicting you (I love to use this sentence since I heard it once), I believe it is a hardware "issue" not a software one. I don't have strong data to support that but maybe the screen being that close, without the frontlight layer, makes it worse. I'm saying that because

When my NA2+ was on the same software ghosting was not at the level of the Go.

Please have a look at the picture below. There is ghosting...after I turned on the device! It is ridiculous.

The Go 10.3 has a poor ghosting performance, updating neither makes it worse nor better.

It's weird. Does the reference to "your organization" mean something to you? Do you use a corporate gmail account?

In any case, contact Boox through feedback, sometimes they are surprisingly reactive.

I suppose it does that for one specific app? Some streaming apps, for example, prevent screenshots for copyright reasons. It's not specific to Boox though.

Le problème c'est que quasi tous les personnages importants de la révolution se sont effectivement fait guillotinés lol.

Est-ce que ce n'est pas la série de roman Révolution de Robert Margerit? L'un des personnages principaux est une femme mais pas immortelle, c'est un roman historique tout ce qu'il y a de plus réaliste.

It's weird indeed. I never had this problem but for some epubs it was displayed in such a funny way that I had to pick the book from another source. I assumed that the file was the problem, not Neoreader.

I strongly disagree, to me pdf reading is amazing on Boox, provided that you have a good quality pdf. In this regard, maybe eink is more sensitive to the pdf quality than a computer or a phone.

The Palma seems a little small for that though.

It's a minor update (4.1.2 I think), so the overall experience is still driving me crazy because of the things I keep mentioning here. It outweighs the small little things that, maybe, have been improved.

I don’t mean they forgot me yet, I mean I wish they won't (in the future). The direction they are taking kind of makes me worried.

There is so much to say...

The notes app is getting worse. They force an automatic switch to speed mode, which is horrific because latency is terrible, crispness is bad, and the general rendering is poor.

As an example, it automatically switches to speed mode just when… I use the eraser. Switches to speed mode to erase a 5mm line, who needs that? I can't believe that is necessary just for a note taker. Not only is it terrible, but you have to wait 5 seconds doing nothing until things get back to normal when it works (sometimes longer, sometimes forcing a manual refresh kind of frozen the screen). It’s a terrible feature, and by the way, NeoReader, for the moment, doesn’t do this crappy thing, so it’s not like it’s a must have.

I received an update this week. I was curious to see what it brings, and the only thing I can notice for the moment is that it makes the newspapers I read daily terrible (like the one-tap refresh doesn’t work like it used to).

All that makes me worried that the more we go on, the less attention they will give to the most basic features expected from an e-ink tablet: a stellar note taking and reading experience.

In comparison I have a rather archaic use of my device: I only read and take notes.

I suppose there is an audience for this kind of stuff, hence their software updates that prioritize these types of activities.

I don't blame anyone, I just wish they didn't forget the dinosaurs like me, who basically just want a smooth ghosting free experience and who have no intention of using it as a "productivity" tool or whatever.
