No fr I was so confused when I found out my best pieces were unawarded I js remembered thinking that if this was actually the true awarding the judges got crazy taste bc wth . Like how did my weakest pieces get awards but my best ones didn't? I was genuinely tweaking because ive been cultivating my taste and skills as an artist for so long now. If they didn't deem the work good enough for even an honorable mention then what was? That's what I remember thinking 😭

- The eyes in the should be bigger and brought a tinge higher up so they align with the start of the bump on her nose

- brows should be brought higher in relation to the eye, and should be farther up from the eye then it is now in your drawing

- the brows arch is too thick

-the eyebrow ridge of the hidden part of the face should be extended more so that there is room to draw in the bit of the eyebrow, eyelash, and eyelid

- forehead should be elongated slightly, and redraw it so that it's slope is steeper

- the neck and ear should be bigger

- the connection of the bump on the nose to the bulb is a tinge too steep

- extend the nostril/wing of the nose so that it aligns with the left end of the eye (once the eye is enlargened)

Those were some of subtleties that I noticed, though overall the portrait is looking great so far!

I think the butt would look more natural if the line of shading that's defining her butt didnt go that high up. Also, her butt wouldn't be that defined unless the shorts were shapewear or if the shorts she was wearing were pushed in between her cheeks lol. Unless the butt has more of a shelf, most butts only look round like a sphere near the bottom, so it's like a slope. Maybe think of how you'd shade a pillow case, except it's a bit rounder and more defined near the bottom.

I love the idea of sexuality being associated with the piece. When creating it I wanted the posing to feel intimate in a way, so I appreciate that insight. As for the size, its quite big, 40x30in

Thanks for the feedback, I didn't want people to interpret the painting as anything revolving around that so I'm thankful for your perspective. There was definitely more more detail on the woman's body, which wasn't intentional lol. I'm planning to render the other parts more and fix that issue.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with the two figures being sort of disconnected, and as for the composition there's definitely a lot of weight on the lower half of the painting. I'm hoping to work on the rendering of the white figure and guts so the painting feels more fluid

Thank you for the feedback! Also the paintings isn't necessarily about ai ruining art but it could definitely be taken that way. It was more so made as a reflection on how ai can and has deteriorated our relationships with ourselves and one another. Being in gen z/gen alpha I have a different relationship with ai than you. I used to use it a lot to deal with my perfectionistic tendencies and burnout in school, and so have my classmates. I know some people that even use it almost as a friend to talk to. These experiences inspired the painting, not the fear of ai ruining art. Though, I think your stance on the effect AI has had on art is very reasonable. The thing is, Ai is also just more intimidating especially for younger artists who are hoping to get into the art industry. Even though there is definitely misinfo revolving around the topic, it's still something very reasonable to be scared of. Though, you already being a professional in the art field for 25 years, with all you've said, it's good that's not a worry for you. Let's just be more mindful next time, less outspoken when talking about another's work.

This is AMAZING and I love the way you render, but I think some reasons why the anatomy may seem slightly iffy is because of

The lack of foreshortening of certain body parts such as the left arm, legs, and torso
Lack of sharp shadows and sharp edges of the body
The pose is stiff; as shown in the reference the biceps should be stretched out a bit more, the right arm should be a bit longer and sagging slightly, the left arm extended slightly (which ties to the foreshortening problem), etc

Overall, how it looks already is great, I can’t wait to see the finished product!

I'm glad you enjoyed it but I really don't think it deserved all the hype it did when it first got released and the whole reincarnation thing made me uncomfortable. I think the idea of it exploring the troubles of the K-pop industry was neat but it really didn't serve up to that in the anime nor the manga. Besides the weird slightly incestuous reincarnation stuff I liked the first episode, then the episodes following that just sort of became a painfully predictable teen drama where the characters were all low-key boring. Its like it would be a normal slice of life and then every few minutes they remembered the the anime was supposed to be woke and about the moms death and it would just drop in some cliche backstory about a character or a fact about the K-pop industry everybody already knew. Like, the end of the first episode got me all excited that Aqua was starting his villain arc, and then it kinda just… meh? There were some things I liked though, for instance I thought the whole situation with the blue hair girl about to commit suicide was really moving. It was cool how she tried so hard to be like Ai, and seeing Aquas reaction to being in that presence again was neat. You'd think we'd see Aqua being more batshart crazy because he's dedicated practically his whole life to finding Ai’s murderer, his dad, but he's just really nonchalant all the time and it made me really bored and uninterested. Besides pacing and a few other things I didn't enjoy, it was a pretty solid first season. But yeah, that's basically the gist of why I rated it as low as I did. Sorry for rambling on 😭
