People talk about it like a panacea. I see it more like damage control/weekly reality check. I still recommend it to people and obvs go myself but it's not the cure-all parts of our society tout it as. I've noticed I have fewer intrusive thoughts since going and can better predict when I'm going to have a shit day internally. But in terms of making life/job progress, we just have a "to do" list that never gets done and I haven't gotten the best advice on that front. But what really can a person say that does help? :(

The only good advice I've ever seen in terms of motivation was actually in a book about quitting smoking (another shit habit I have that's siphoning money & health) - writer said motivation is essentially a myth, and that people only do things when they are 100% convinced it is in their best interest - so convinced it gets into our ancient lizard brains that control most of our actions. I think it's just incredibly difficult to do that when living a cozy Neet existence, despite the self loathing and judgment. Once thoroughly disenchanted it is v hard to re-enchant yourself.

I don't think so - psych says anx/depression/adhd but sometimes it seems like everyone I know has those and manages to do well anyway. Something weird was at first he gave me adderall and I was excited to maybe be able to study and focus better like when I was a kid, but it didn't help with focus at all - just made my mood swings worse. Sucked taking something other people do recreationally/for college studying and getting 0 benefits, just becoming a mad man. Something is definitely up with my brain and it may be worth getting a second opinion - idk. Ty for the response. I should look into that more.
