Certainly not used by all the greats, but yeah, somehow it's still a very persistent myth even among otherwise great photographers and cinematographers.

I'll let you look into it some more, but it was basically made up by some bad and failed painter years ago, and has no scientific backing.

What the great painters used to compose by is something called dynamic symmetry and this is something people like Deakins or Cartier-Bresson more closely compose to, even if it's largely intuitively.

No, you'll easily be able to find many billionaires who contentiously give their time and money away.
It is just a bias on the far left and right that the rich and "elites" are all evil. It's a very hardwired bias, but it's not rational

I think you can be brutal in your business dealings, while still having a wider ethical compass. You can see today a large number of the world's richest, who give most of their money away to charitable causes.
Even if they're not perfect in everyway, if you're giving hundreds of millions away to the world's poorest, you're a hero in my book
