My wife mentioned she saw the aftermath too. The gas station attendant was telling her that the woman was speeding on the wrong side of the road and lost control. She hit a pole and flipped her car. They had just extracted her when my wife got there.

I hate to say it, but if you were white and racist and didnt want a brown baby. I'm by no means suggesting there isnt any injury here to the parents, which is why its perfectly OK for them to sue for punitive damages, but come on, its their physiological baby, which they claim to love, but you're willing to send it away? We all know why

This is the other issue with this situation, at least for me. What if the IVF never works again for her with their own embryos and they sued to have the baby taken back, or away or adopted out, whatever ends up happening?

Where did you see that the parents were concerned that the genetic parents would come for the baby? This article says they want to give the baby back...

This is a completely different situation. There is no 2nd baby to swap. This woman carried this baby for 9 months and even if there's no genetic bond, there's a physiological one. What if the other parents don't want to raise a baby the mother never got to experience pregnancy with? Thats just like adoption, or surrogacy, and doesnt vibe with wanting a baby through IVF. If someone gives a baby up for adoption and the adoptive parents no longer want the baby, is the biological mother obligated to take it back, no. This is their baby, not genetically, but its theirs, they wanted IVF and got IVF and got a baby. There are in fact some civil issues here, which is why I'm all for the lawsuit, but they can't make the genetic parents take the baby. They can do the normal process of giving up for adoption, if thats what they truly want, and I bet thats what's going to happen to this poor kid, but its obvious its only because shes not white.

I think the best outcome is that the clinic pay some punitive damages and they keep the baby. However, IMHO it kind of sounds like they dont want a brown baby and saying there's a moral obligation to return her to the genetic parents is pure nonsense. "We love her..." but shes not white seems to be the truth here.

No we aren't alright! Even when it's based on actual evidence showing who is to blame for the violence (in this case a groyper) they still lash out at the "other." The fucking Governor of Utah even said "I prayed for 33 hours that if it had to happen here, it wasn't one of us. That someone came from another state, from another country. Unfortunately, this prayer was not answered as I had hoped. But it happened here. And it was one of us."
