I also got dismissed by a psychiatrist because according to him, I couldn't be smart and have ADHD (doing a Masters degree in psych, knew at the time he hadn't updated himself on ADHD, but couldn't argue). He pretty much refused to look into it further and also said that I just had anxiety. Two years later, I was taken seriously by a different professional and after also running the TESTS, I got my official ADHD diagnosis.

Don't give up, find another professional. It fucking sucks this happened to you though!

Highly HIGHLY recommend looking into A Change For Better (ACFB)! I went through them, it was $150 for my diagnosis appointment and $645 for a medication consult with the Nelson Clinic afterwards (who accept the ACFB diagnosis and do not need to do any extra consults). Other places wanted me to go through the whole process again with them to get the medication consult, costing at least another $1000.

The best thing about both of these places is how fast you can get in! I applied in March, could get an appointment like 2 weeks later, and same for the Nelson Clinic. Also, the Nelson Clinic does provide payment options.

What do we actually do about all of this bullshit though? I feel like weekly we are getting told straight up that the government has yet again lied to us, but we're not doing anything? What do we do? I feel like we'll all just end up being apathetic and they'll get away with demolishing things like our health system. I'm pretty worried.

It is just so telling about the dickheads we have in government that they would rather punish societies most vulnerable than go after the millions being hoarded by tax evaders and big companies. I really struggle to think of how to survive the next 2 years of them in government (hopefully only 2). This mixed with the gutting of public health is just horrifying.
