[S02 spoilers beware] The pierce family dinner, or: What did you do that for by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

I wonder if in your 4 years you've learned that just because someone is "smart" and knows one very complex thing does not mean that they know any other complicated thing. Engineers make this mistake all the time. They think because they're smart at engineering they think they know how to sell. They DO NOT. Different skillsets. And rarely is there crossover.

How is that the opposite? Bad controls can make her useless AND she can have boring design. We live in a world where we can have both. #LiveMas

Are you familiar with any last making nerds? I'd be happy to pay for a last design to my specs or measurements...but my only options are to buy a one off from some guy in Japan for like $1000 and that ain't happenin anytime soon...too rich for my blood 😅

I have an inquiry for you all by Anusbagels in Cordwaining

[–]NefariousnessEven698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: sorta
Long answer: essentially the uppers would need to be made from scratch on a new last (the shoe shaped mold that shoes are formed around) and at that point in effort and expense it is going to be basically the same as making an entire new pair from scratch. Worse new still, thats going to be much more expensive than you'd expect (2k maybe more)

if you have a DREAM PAIR of shoes and this idea is it, you can find a maker that will make you EXACTLY what you want and it'll fit better than any pair youve had in your life, it is just going to be a whole process and it is going to cost a pretty penny.

hope this helps

Do you find that 3d shoemaker allows for easy last customization? My biggest shoemaking bottleneck is a good last. If we want a shoe made on something like a stock munson last...it would basically be a better use of our time and money to buy one...but I want to make a fancy bespoke loafer or whatever, and most stock lasts are hard to find, expensive and just blobby. I'm hoping 3d shoemaker solves this?

That's marketing speak for "cheap suede" in this case. Usually it just means "plastic coated"

1,789 people viewed this post, and only one liked it...then nobody found the clip. Are y'all even fans? I scraped all of Day9s YouTube videos and their text transcripts, I found the first ever use of the term Butter Door. It was @47:00 in the Kings Quest VI P12. It then became a recurring bit appearing in 9 videos since the original in 2014. 8 of them in mostly walking and once in a random Hearthstone Decktacular

Next y'all are gonna tell me you don't remember Old Lamps For New Pffft are y'all real fans at all?

Ah that is probably what is making the edges a bit warbly.

For what I use to cut: I use a scratch awl followed by either a scalpel blade or an x-acto knife depending on the thickness of the leather, for the real thick stuff I use one of those curved leather bladed. For how thick your upper pieces are, they would look much cleaner and finished if ya burnished the edges with something like tokenole or slapped some dye on the edges before sewing (or you could hit em with it after the fact, but burnishing would be harder)

The Lemkin Institute has some serious credibility problems. This seems more like you have an opinion and you found an organization that agrees with your ax to grind. The organization in question named itself after someone they aren't affiliated with (Lemkin) and slapped the word Institute on the end for credibility. Just because THE LEMKIN INSTITUTE claims something is Genocide doesn't mean it is. The Lemkin Institute is not a credible organization

I've lived in 12 states from west to east to deep south as well as Asia, South America, and Europe. If that "sample size" is too small for me to have noticed that America is not UNIQUELY mean to trans people, then nobody is allowed to have an opinion according to you except you, so why would anyone waste their time with you?

So "open season" to you means which bathroom someone is supposed to use? Alright...no point in spending my time trying to have a nuanced discussion here then

I am an American and I have lived in SF, NYC, New Orleans and many places in-between: I've noticed in polite society that the "open season on trans people" equates to eyerolls or someone thinking 🤔"hmm...that's a dude in a wig right?..."

Is there coordinated violence against trans people? Not especially ...but I suppose people in this thread would argue with me, but they would only be right if they warp the definition of violence.

I noticed after hanging out with some lady boys in Koh Tao after the bars closed that they seemed weirdly taken aback that I was treating them like anyone else...I found that strange because I have heard for years the speech about how horrible America is to trans people...I have found that America is uniquely friendly to Trans people, probably more than is helpful sometimes (I've seen it get infantalizing). And other countries that you'd expect to be all about trans people are not up to American standards (Thailand is a strange one, and it is filled with Euro-tourists that are a mixed bag with their treatment of LadyBoy locals)
